Beautiful Sochi figure skating venue photos

Mods, I wasn't quite sure where to place this, since it's too soon to put the Sochi 2014 theme into Kiss n' Cry. This is far too beautiful for the Trash Can, IMO. Behold the figure skating venue (exterior and interior) for the 2014 Winter Games:

    That exterior is out-of-this-world gorgeous.

The outside is really cool and innovative. The inside... looks like an arena.

hmm there is a lot of room between the boards and first row all the way around? Is that different that Vancouver? I remember that at least on the long sides the seats were right behind the boards? Or am I wrong?

very beautiful arena, love the design. The inside roof looks great too!

    The outside is amazing, indeed!

I certainly hope my butt will be in one of those 12000 seats in February 2014!

Gorgeous outside, dont like the inside, it's obvious its same contractors that interior ofWorlds 2011 arena. Same seats, same type of layout, someone is in the $$, getting all the contracts.

Love the exterior but not the interior. The spectators seem so far away. I'm still waiting for an Olympic arena to top the saddledome from Calgary and it looks as though I'll still be waiting to see what 2018 brings. Hopefully this will be an improvement on SLC though where it felt as though the spectators were in a different arena when watching on TV.

My first reaction was that it beats the heck out of that old barn they put us in at the Vancouver Olympics, but I hate that the seats are so far from the ice! I must say this Sochi arena is awfully pretty to look at though :-)

What a lovely arena! Since it's planned to be moved somewhere after Sochi, I wonder if this is going to be the equivalent of the Gehry Bilbao Guggenheim somewhere in Russia.

Interior looks like an average skating rink but the building is absolutely stunning. A beautiful piece of architecture.

Oh. Do you know where they plan to move it?

Why not leave it in Sochi and create a strong skating centre there? Not enough residents in the area?

I was wrong: according to Wikipedia, it's only one of the Ice Hockey arenas that's being moved to another city, TBD. I thought multiple venues were meant to be temporary, to be moved to underserved regions and so that the oligarchs could have their resort area back, but all the rest are remaining. The ice skating building is supposed to be converted into an exhibition hall.

Edited to add: I just checked the footnoted source to the Wikipedia article, which is the English version of the Sochi 2014 site. According to the site, three of the six venues in the Coastal Cluster, where the ice events will take place and the Olympic Stadium will be located, are moveable buildings that can be located to other Russian cities:

Iceberg Skating Palace (The Sochi 2014 site explicitly states that it will be moved to be a skating center in another Russian city, but doesn't mention which one, under post-Olympic use)

    Shayba Arena

    Ice Cube Curling Center

The three that will remain in Sochi are:

    Olympic Stadium

    Bolshoi Ice Dome

Adler Arena (This is listed as a trade/exhibition center.)

It's possible that the original decision changed since the site was accessed for the original Wikipedia article.

    Sorry.

The first rendering posted with all of the multi shaded blue rectangular panels looked like a corporatized rip off of the Barclay Center to me, and then the generic dull grey screen wall shown in the photos reut posted looked like a watered-down rip off of Bejing's Bird's Nest to me.
