Is SJ famous for lobsters? I know most lobster festivals are over but hope to have some at a cheap price...
I remember Shediac is a town of lobster but it's too far north from SJ...

yeah...i went to the exhibition practice last year at the worlds. the skaters seemed tired but it was fun watching them practice in a super relaxed atmosphere. so different from the practice sessions BEFORE the the competitions! a few of them took the time to give autographs, too. i plan to go see it again on sun morning. omg talking about the SC make me so psyched for the season to start!!

It closes at 2am so we can do it after the day's event is over as well.

My flight is Monday morning. What am I gonna do all of Sunday?
I leave on Monday morning too- and there are probably a couple of others of us. I'm sure we can find a nice restaurant for a small group!
I know. But I do not approve. And I am not resigned.

We're leaving Monday morning too. The Exhibition ends at 3:00, so we could go for an early dinner at 4:00 or so.

Reserved a room at the Holiday Inn Express. Looks like either people are canceling or Skate Canada is telling hotels how many rooms they really need. Can't wait!

Skate Canada, as an organization, seems NOTORIOUS for basically blocking out any viable hotel room, for themselves/media/whatever. I "get" that they need to house skaters and the people needed to run an event, but yeesh - especially at Worlds last year, it was ridiculous trying to get a room in London. Makes fans like me resentful and they should know it. At the very least, there should be better communication about options and how/when they will become available. Likely going to pass on SC this year, partly for this reason.

It may not be all the fault of Skate Canada. Don't forget that there are tour groups who also block book rooms for skating events well in advance. Once they get past a certain point, they know how many people they will have and start releasing rooms. Sometimes there is a date built into their agreement with the hotel and if they don't let rooms go by that date they could be responsible for paying for them.

Generally Skate Canada would only have one, or at most two, official hotels for their events. One for skaters and officials and one for the press. In London they may have had to use an additional one (or two) due to the local circumstances. There were many hotels housing people from the various tour groups.

Yeah, it's the tours, which is why I book through them. They book blocks of seats as well as the hotels. For major events, tours offer the best option and when you count transport to and from the arena, the cost is pretty well a wash.

It's not Skate Canada's fault this time.

Pretty sure that they only blocked the Delta in Saint John.

Hilton was already sold out on the Saturday night due to regular business according to my

The Holiday Inn Express filled quickly with fan bookings.

Anyone received tickets to Skate Canada yet? I would think they should be arriving pretty soon!

I asked on Skate Canada's FB page to confirm that the gala practices will be opened to all-event ticket holders and they said it would be. Fingers and toes crossed that Smirnov makes it to the gala, I could use a good laugh!

You might want to contact the Harbour Station box office to check if they're holding them at Will Call. They called me a couple of weeks ago to advise they didn't want to mail mine (to Winnipeg) because they were concerned about them not arriving in time.
