Skate Canada 2013 heads east to Saint John

    http://www.skatecanada.ca/AboutUs/Ne...S/Default.aspx

Saint John, New Brunswick will host the 2013 Skate Canada International at the Harbour Station from October 25-27, 2013

If I missed seeing this somewhere else, would some kind admin just merge them? Thanks.

I might have to go to this one.

Can "2013 Skate Canada" be included in the thread title please? ETA: Thanks!

The Skate Canada press release links need to have the [url] tags enclosing the URL (manually added) in order to work:

    Okay I'm there.
I want to thank you Lord for being with me so far this day. With your help, I have not been inpatient, lost my temper been grumpy or envious of anyone. But I will be getting out of bed in a minute and I think I will really need your help then. Amen

    Ooh, I want to go!

ETA: I still need to know where the other events will be held to make any final decisions, though. Especially if SA is in the PNW.

    ETA: From the article:

Tickets are expected to be on sale in the Spring of 2013.
Good. Time to prepare. I am leaning towards going (esp. given those who have already declared coming). I wanna go! Come on, announcements for Canadians and Skate America!

Flights from Montreal to St.Johns are not cheap!
Any transportation suggestions? 10 hour drive though...

I assume you mean Saint John, not St. John's You should be able to get a flight for less than $ 300 including taxes.

Anyway it's great to have Skate Canada 20 minutes from my home.

Westjet, Air Canada fly to Saint John's New Brunswick and there are often sales on so should be able to get a good deal..
Porter especially is amazing to fly with..but they just go to Moncton so would have to drive

4rkids, when I clicked on your link, I got info about St. John's, Newfoundland.

Make sure when you are typing you spell out S A I N T John . If you type St. John it often gives you St. John's Newfoundland.

Dave of the North. Where do you suggest looking for flights? Air Canada prices are well over $400 and the connecting flights all seem to be on those smaller planes with Jazz. When I had to go to Moncton I just flew into Halifax and took the bus from there, much easier, cheaper and quicker. But the trip to Saint John from Halifax seems a lot longer.

Yes, be very careful with this when you're booking! Saint John (New Brunswick) does not have an s or 's.

    4rkidz, you're a bad, bad Canadian!!

People should keep in mind when they plan their trip to Saint John that there might not be a bus running from Moncton or Halifax at the time. We are having bus issues in the Maritimes atm (unless things have changed recently. I got an email from Arcadian Lines a few weeks ago reminding me that they were ending service in Nov.) So I suggest if you are planing on coming, keep an eye on the situation or be aware that you might have to make alternate plans on how get there.

I have no idea if I'll be able to make it. I'd love to go and right now I'm close by, but I finish school this spring and no clue where I'll be when I'm done. It all depends on where I find a job.

Well, St. John's wouldn't have been bad either as Newfoundland is the last Canadian province I haven't been to yet (and I've been to St. John, NB already). Plus it's always funky to be in a half-houred time zone.

Getting to Saint John from the US will be a bit of a pain, I'd guess. Either that or expensive. Or both. But, hotel rates are very reasonable in Saint John.

The airport code for Saint John is YSJ.

Westjet and Porter currently fly to Moncton.

Air Canada/Jazz is the only airline to Saint John.

The Montreal-Saint John Air Canada Tango non-refundable fare can be as low as $ 169 or $ 242 with taxes.

Dave. The Hilton and Delta look close to the stadium. Would you say they are in walking distance?

And is there really only one specialty coffee shop in Saint John besides Starbucks?

Yes, they are. Also these hotels and the downtown malls are connected via walkways so if the weather is inclement you don't have to go outside. Hilton - Market Square - Shops of City Hall - side trip to Harbour Station - Brunswick Square - Delta - City market ---they are all connected.

Java Moose? yes they are in the City Market and on Prince William. Tim Hortons is the only choice in Harbour Station.

Only 4 hours drive from me. I am SO there.

St. John's would have been good too....I have family there so would have been free accomodations.

I don't think it would be hard to get to Saint John from US if you looked at going into Bangor and renting a car from there. Only about an hour and a half or so drive from Bangor, I think?
I'm not spoiled...I deserve all my stuff.
