2012/13 Japan qualifying & domestic competitions

Wow, a schedule & results in English this year! http://www.jsfresults.com/National/2...fs_e/index.htm

Cross-posting this from the Japan skating news thread in GSD -- TV news report of Kanako Murakami's two programs at Chubu Regionals (Sept. 28-30, 2012, in Aichi):

ETA that the same user has uploaded the TV broadcast clip of 14-year-old Yura Matsuda, who won Chubu Junior Ladies with a total score of 158.80, 104.69 FS to Gershwin's "Crazy For You": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OV-d7swQH4 (she was 6th in her JGP debut in Courchevel)

    Here's Takahito Mura's SP (with a 4-4 practice attempt!): http://youtu.be/HWGfVxUhhLs

It's unfortunate he couldn't do his FS because of the typhoon.

Thanks for the link for to the vids!

I really like the direction that Murakami's skating is taking. Last year, I felt her programs, were a little heavy for her but this season, her programs look great. I still wish some of her jumps entries were fixed but she has improved in artistry a lot from just two seasons ago.

Low levels on spins and footwork, and not a single clean triple in either SP or LP...

Come on Fumi, all your experience will make you a great coach but please give the skating up finally!

I can't believe she's still competing after last year's failure . but don't forget that there's a Japanese active tennis player, Kimiko Date-Krumm, who has just turned 42. maybe Fumie tries to beat the world record .

btw, does anyone know who her present coach is?

Is it that Fumie blew away the chance to move on, chances like Yukari was given and took, blinded by her passionate love for competitiveskating? It sure is puzzling to see her like this

I mean if she came out on a high, she'd end up getting slots on the bigger ice shows, I am sure. But now, the best she can hope for is to become a coach.

Shu-Shikoku-Kyushu Regional, Oct. 11-14, Shimane (Block 6) Results & protocols

Tohoku-Hokkaido Regional, Oct. 12-14, Hokkaido (Block 1) Results & protocols

Had Regionals been a single competition, Suguri would have finished 27th in a field of 76.

Takahito Mura withdrew from his sectionals. Does he get a bye or something?

Of course there has been quite a bit of attention drawn to the fact that Fumie Suguri did not qualify again, but it would have been very strange if Shoko Ishikawa did not qualify. Fortunately, she pulled up to third in the free skate after being 16th in the short program. It's also a bit shocking that JGP competitor Miu Sato (and it looks as if this is the same person) did not even qualify for the free skate here...
