"Randy [Starkman (1960-April 16, 2012)] lived by the same motto as the rest of us. The Olympics isn’t every four years, it’s every single day. He just got it." --Canadian Olympic kayaker Adam van Koeverden

Can't skate but love to watch
Such a relief! Keep your health, Scott and Tessa!
i.e. they just aren't ready yet. At least it isn't emergency dental surgeryI wouldn't worry.
i'm sorry that certain people don't feel all the due respect for these athletes who work hard and risk pain everyday.
Kevin: He compared Scott to a disposable feminine cleansing product one might use on a summer's eve.
Meagan: Yeah, and the bag it came in. -The Big Bang Theory, performed by the Canadian WTT team and interpreted by Cyn.

I just don't see any "transparent excuses" here. Even a minor injury like this can turn into a serious problem if not healed properly. They simply realize this, and have decided not to risk it in order to be absolutely healthy and in good form for the rest of the season.
A Davis/White uber who also happens to hate Virtue/Moir, aren't you? Otherwise I can't explain this attitude. Why would the top ice dancing team with a perfect work ethic not be ready when lesser teams feel that they are ready? This is an absurd thought.

Did I say I found their excuse transparent? I said that, for those who find this excuse transparent, the fact that V&M work hard doesn't demand that they respect V&M by not mentioning it.
Or, more straightforwardly, whether you believe or don't believe V&M's reasons for missing this competition, I do not think it is a respect issue. People pull out of competitions all the time for a variety of reasons including readiness. Injury is often given as a reason even when it is not strictly true. As a result, people are often skeptical. It has nothing to do with how much they do or do not respect V&M. And if V&M were not ready, why would you necessarily assume that it was a work ethic issue? There are plenty of reasons that they might not be feel 100% prepared for this competition that wouldn't have anything to do

I don't see vultures, I see people not taking everything at face value.
