    Stavitskaya is just lovely.

The only weird thing is that she skated with her hair open and caught strands of her hair in her mouth several times. Must've been very distracting, although you couldn't really see from the way she still skated a clean program. A few times you could see her quickly move it away but still... weird choice since it could be so easily avoided. Of course it looks pretty when you have your hair open... but so inconvenient.

Impressive international debut by Scimeca/Knierim (this is Alexa's first-ever international competition) - very high 3twist, big throw 3F, sbs 3S landed. Their Team USA bio: http://web.icenetwork.com/skaters/de...d=40441&mode=P

    Men's SP has started.

ETA: Keegan Messing currently leads with 80.61 (3A, 3Lz+3T, huge Russian split jump to 3F). A very high energy performance to "Sing Sing Sing"!

They started in April of this year so I was wondering where they had come from and with this very impressive skill set which just has all the technical elements. Very impressive and russia S/k just didn't do anything good.

The live link also has previous events on demand. Can't wait to check out Scimeca/Knierim's program. Really surprised (in a bad way) about Stolbova/Klimov's score. I am going to check out the pairs after the men conclude.

    Amazing PCS for Messing.

Some sort of power outage at the rink. Lights in the arena just went out during Vladislav Sezganov's program.

Apparently a strong storm in Nice has knocked out the power.

That really sucks for a skater...I feel bad for him. He should get +3s for sticking it out, so calmly.

It's interesting that the video stayed on...maybe they have their own power.

On another note, it would nice if the camera was on a tri-pod and not hand held, at least that is how it appears.

Power is back on at 1645 Nice time. Yeah!!
    Happy Skating!

They are going to playback all his music? Weird, he probably had less than a minute left of his skate.

If the power goes out and the music operator doesn't immediately look at the time remaining, he/she can't tell where they left off. No power, no time display. And not to get too technical, but find the place in the music, on some CD players (if that is what they are using), can be a real pain. Not so, if you use iTunes on a laptop (like we do at USFS).

When I have had this occur, after consultation with the referee, have done the same thing, let the music play and let the skater pick it up at the appropriate time/element.

Gilleron-Gorry dressed and skating like she's declaring the apocalypse, interesting! Good content though, 3t-3t, 3f, 2a.

    Missed Zaseeva.

Oh it's Clara Peters now! She's really got nice basics and well constructed programs. Elements, not so much.

    Crystal Kiang is a no-show...

Agafonova grew up and, unfortunately, lost her jumps .

Marocco is in the lead - very decent outing, with a 3z2t combo.
