This is what we've been waiting for since Vancouver. Finally this season these new kids will make Ladies skating much more interesting. It won't just be the same old skaters we've been watching since about 2003-04. Usually at this point just a year before the Olympics the new girls have established themselves but it took longer this cycle. Now with the Russian girls Gracie and now Kaetlyn it will be much less predictable then the last few years have been.

Wheeeee... you've got one day left to bet the farm on Kaetlyn. Head on over to vBookies and slam down some . Odds are 20/1--- that's a big payout.

Don't get me wrong, Kaetlyn had a fabulous skate and I think she has all the qualities, but let's not get our hopes up too quickly too much. Granted she beat some good skaters but it's only one event and she's still so young. I really hope somehow she can get another Grand Prix and with another good showing at Skate Canada could do that, but I think everyone should just let her go at her own pace and develop into the great skater she should become. I hope and wish her nothing but the best for the future.

I wouldn't bet the farm on her but it's nice to see Canada starting to have some glimmers of hope after such a long drought. Kaetlyn is definitely one and the other I'd keep an eye on is Gabrielle Daleman. She's on the JGP right now and, with some work, she could be a pretty impressive skater too. I noticed her at JGP Austria:

Lots of speed, power and energy and really nice spring in her jumps. Good to see Canada finally getting some ladies with some promise...

I remember posting about Gabrielle Daleman's promise after she won the 2012 Junior national title and then the silver medal at Challenge Cup in her international debut. Daleman's 2nd JGP assignment will be the last one in Chemnitz, Germany. I guess we can retire this thread now? Fixing the Canadian Ladies Program

You've got to think Ravi Walia is going to get some major credit for developing this great talent in so little time. Beginning of last season, Kaetlyn was a middle of the pack junior, and this season she looks like a veteran senior.

I loved her elements, unique choreography (to VERY tired music), and attack! She may not be top of the pile yet, but if you consider how far she’s come in one year, she might become a medal threat.

In answer to my question is she working on getting the triple loop. Sylvia posted this article in the Kiss and Cry thread. Which states

Osmond opened her routine with a triple toe-triple toe as well, but stepped out of the landing. She went on to complete a triple flip, double Axel, and two level-four spins to score 55.68 (30.88/24.80) points.

“I am really happy with my short program,” said the 16-year-old. “It went the way I wanted it to. There are a couple of things I want to do better, but it was solid for my first time out.”

“My training has been really good,” added the teen from Alberta. “I got really prepared this summer. I have gotten more triple-triples and I can add a triple loop.”

The new triple-triples are not yet in the programs, but may come later this season.
I want to thank you Lord for being with me so far this day. With your help, I have not been inpatient, lost my temper been grumpy or envious of anyone. But I will be getting out of bed in a minute and I think I will really need your help then. Amen

She's way more interesting to watch that most of the other up and comers. She really seems to understand her music!

But the spelling of that name....

There is a proper way to spell Caitlin, and it doesn't involve the letters "K" or "E."
