Thank God for Herschel. Is he really the only person left on planet earth who can make sense of things? These people are so psychologically stunted! Everybody doing random, dangerous things...total anarchy. Horrible communication skills. Sulky, moody "let me suffer all alone and instead of let others help me" attitudes. Did nobody's mind grow after grade eight?

I don't quite understand why Rick is seeing Lori. I didn't think they really loved each other anymore when she died. Or is he thinking about when they still did care about each other? Or what might have been if she had lived??

I also don't know why everyone would let anyone go off on their own like they did with Rick. First, he's been your best protector and provider. Second, he's having a breakdown and walking off into zombie-land could get you killed. Do none of them have a heart? And if not, why not be selfish and see him as someone who could help keep them alive? It's like their zombies and they're just letting bad things happen to themselves. And to let Rick wander off while they are expecting an attack from the Govenor. Man, are these people stoopid! And the shot of Michonne just watching Rick wander off. Is she dead inside? Does she have no humanity left?

And Andrea being so cold and heartless to the Govenor. If she had offered even the slightest bit of human warmth, maybe he wouldn't have gone after the other group if he had anyone in his community who offered him any reason to stay. Instead she was a heartless, unfeeling cold bitch. Yuck! And again, even if you hate him (or care anything about your old group)...then being nice to Mr. Psycho (if that's how you see him now) might protect you, your community and your old friends. But being an a**hat just means trouble. Is Andrea that stupid?

Back at the prison, Glen spouts out endless monologues and everybody stands there like they're zombie-fied. Do they not have group discussions and make decisions based on the best intelligence of the group? Does nobody have organizational skills? So glad they have Herschel...if he dies they will be 100% HOT MESS.

They know that a town of many people are planning an attack. And they are a group of only ten or so (which includes a child, a one-legged senior and a guy at the beginning of a nervous breakdown). Did it not cross anyone's mind that maybe they should unlock the four healthy, strong survivors within their prison and welcome them into the tribe??
It's official. I am madly in love with Meryl Davis.

I wondered about that too. Someone asked about it on the Talking Dead and it was explained that they had left after Rick flipped out. That should have been made clear on the show - it was confusing. Apparently the 4 will appear again so we'll see how that plays out.
I don't much like this whole Rick seeing ghosts thing - I hope they don't drag this out. I'm really glad Daryl came back!

I thought last night's show was definitely better than last weeks. One big problem I have is with Daryl and Merle being back. I am thrilled to see Daryl back but how in the hell could anyone allow Merle around? He is absolute scum and even after they helped him get out of the Governor's grasp he wasted no time in being a total dick to everyone. I was discussing with my husband that I don't think there could be ANYTHING he can do to redeem himself at this point. Even helping save Rick isn't going to cut it because we all know he will go right back to being a complete ass. As matter of fact, he will probably he more of an ass because he saved Rick. If he suddenly began playing nice then it wouldn't work either and I would just be pissed at the writers. At this point they have no choice but to let him redeem himself by sacrificing himself for someone, most likely Daryl. That would redeem him and not allow for him to go back to his normal ways. I wouldn't be surprised at all if this happens by seasons end, although I know nothing about the comics so I could be way far off.

I forgot to mention that when Axel and Carol had some time together, I was thinking, "wow, I wonder if is going to become a love triangle...go Carol!" And then Axel gets shot in the head. Happy Valentine's Day everybody...

But he is always at his most sane around Andrea. He does the crazy shit when she isn't around. Once she sees that crazy, she will freak!

When your group is being picked off like flies and bullets are whizzing past your head....and someone says, "need a hand"? YOU JUST SAY YES. As for when the danger is over...let's see how everybody treats Merle...

    Apparently so.

Again apparently not. Lots of stupid decisions made on this week's show as you pointed out. Not just stupid, suicidal.

I don't quite understand why Rick is seeing Lori. I didn't think they really loved each other anymore when she died. Or is he thinking about when they still did care about each other? Or what might have been if she had lived??
I would guess this is what happened in the comics. Their relationship was complicated but IMO, yes they did love each other at the end. There were just issues that hadn't yet been dealt with.

And the shot of Michonne just watching Rick wander off. Is she dead inside? Does she have no humanity left?
Poor scripting. There was a news item awhile ago about the creative force of the shown being fired and that being a death blow to the series.

And Andrea being so cold and heartless to the Govenor. If she had offered even the slightest bit of human warmth, maybe he wouldn't have gone after the other group if he had anyone in his community who offered him any reason to stay. Instead she was a heartless, unfeeling cold bitch. Yuck! Here I disagree to a certain extent. 'Stand by your man' is a nice fantasy, but Andrea has realized that the government is a psycho. I don't think that being warm and loving to him would have prevented him from going after those in the prison. It was he who pretended to be warm and loving to her, to divert her attention when he took off to the prison on a killing spree.

Andrea has shown she is impulsive time and time again, but never stupid. I'm hoping she's a few steps behind the governor and will be the one to kill him next episode.

And they are a group of only ten or so (which includes a child, a one-legged senior and a guy at the beginning of a nervous breakdown). Did it not cross anyone's mind that maybe they should unlock the four healthy, strong survivors within their prison and welcome them into the tribe??
It occurred to Hershel, and to Glenn. But then Rick went nuts, and that group - according to The Talking Dead - took off. One manic Rick is more frightening, apparently, than herds and herds of walker.s.

Daryl and Merle are not in the comics; they are additions for the show. Kirkman said Daryl is his favorite addition. He's just a great character. It was awesome to see him finally stand up to Merle. He realizes now how ignorant and wrong Merle is about a lot of things (the whole thing about heading toward the creek, trying to rob the family)...Daryl just finally made a stand. He's a better person and he realizes where he belongs now: back at the prison with the rest of his family. As much as Merle won't admit it, he doesn't want to be out there all alone so, naturally, he's going to follow Daryl back to the prison.

I don't see anything redeeming about Merle right now except for the fact that he's as much (if not more) a target for the governor as Rick and everyone else at the prison which means he has an incentive to stand and fight or at least protect himself by allying himself with Rick and the others. The main issue is trusting Merle. He's threatened or tried to kill damn near every person in the prison at this point and no one is going to welcome him with open arms. He's such a jerk! But the prison gang is undermanned and with the Governor doing drive-bys (or more accurately park-n-shoots) they need as much help as they can get.

Having Merle at the prison is going to stir things up for sure...

Rick hopped the express train to Crazy Town in this episode but after the governor's attack, that look on his face could be summed up in three words: GAME. ON. BITCH. I think that was enough to shock him out of la-la land so I think his visions of Lori will take a backseat until they resolve this issue.

I felt sorry for Axel. I was just starting to like the guy. But one thing I love about this show is its ability to drop my jaw b/c I did not see that coming. That bullet to the head got a full gasp and out of me. I knew something was going to happen...things were just too quiet at the prison in that episode, but I didn't expect that.

The governor is clearly a psychopath and the sooner Andrea notices that the sooner she may leave. We see her making her way up to the prison next episode (with her own brand of walker repellent) so hopefully she'll get the prison gang's side of the story and decide to switch allegiances. If she doesn't she's dead to me.

Thank goodness for hop-a-long Herschel! He was the only voice of reason in that prison and he held the fort down while Rick was out having a crazy frolic in the specter-filled grass.

Glenn was all rage and revenge b/c the governor "done wronged his woman sumthin' terrible." He has to get off of his need for revenge mentality b/c all it did was make him reckless. He's treating what happen to Maggie as more of a shot to his pride as a man when it's Maggie who is feeling ashamed and degraded. Get over yourself, Glenn!

Michonne was as taciturn as usual. She's a beast with the katana but girlfriend's shot with a gun is awful! They need to teach her to shoot. But I will say that when stuff went down she jumped right into the fray and if she hadn't, Herschel would have been walker food so kudos to her for that. Hopefully that act of solidarity will help Rick get over his issues with her...maybe she can sleep in a cell instead of the overturned bus?

The battle lines have been drawn. I'm hoping to see Tyrese, Sasha and the other two return sooner rather than later. They were probably close enough to the prison to hear all of the gunfire so I feel like we'll be seeing them again soon. The ranks need to swell as much as possible because after the governor's retaliation, the prison and Woodbury are officially at war. I can't wait!

I agree, I was starting to like Axel as he was shown like a really good and sincere guy who wanted to do his part in the group, but then BANG!! that scene about the shot to he head left me cold

And Michonne needs to do something, I am getting tired of her just standing there and doing almost nothing...

What do you think the white dress means? They had to have chosen a completely white dress for some reason. The obvious choice is so she seems somewhat like a ghost and we often think of ghosts as little kids wearing white sheets with eye holes? Oh god, I hope it is deeper than that. Maybe she is in all white because Rick is only remembering the good things about her and their relationship and completely forgetting that before she died their relationship seemed all but over? So now he is only seeing her as pure and innocent? Maybe soon she will show up in a slutty black number after he moves on to the anger stage of grief.

I think white clothing is the color of choice when people are remembering someone who died. For Lori, I don't think it's the pure and innocent angle; more the calm, benevolent angle. Rick is spiraling and seeing Lori in that capacity seems to give him a certain sense of calm and comfort. That's what I take it as...

Lol! I definitely expect him to see her in a harlot red number once he switches to that anger phase.

I watch intermittantly, because the writing and choice of characters seems very poor to me.

The tween kid as cold blooded killer/protector is laughable. He's about as dangerous as Dennis the Menace.

Same for the Governer-He's so bland and personality free that it's impossible to imagine someone like Merle
taking his crap. Merle is really the only menacing character so far, and should have been cast as the Governer.

Apparently, Laurie was the most hated person on the show, so why bring someone back the fans hated, and not in a love to hate way? Bad actress when she had a speaking role, and just as irritating as an hallucination.

Who gives a crap about the people at Woodbury? They're just cardboard cut outs, other than Andrea, who is just as irritating as Laurie.

Michonne is an intriguing character, but they are giving her nothing to work with. I expect her to reveal some deep trauma soon, but it's a waste to make her such a cipher. The scene where she was chopping through zombies at the end was nice, though.

How did the person who was shooting in the look out tower get there? Was that the driver who delivered the load of zombies?

He did kill his mother and has quite a lot of zombie kills to his credit. He's capable of killing if he has to.

In this world there is safety in numbers. The community could be an ally to Rick's group. And where you rather live? A fortified, governor-free Woodbury or the prison?

I wondered about that too - it seems the tower wasn't manned when the van broke through.

I was speaking more to my inability to suspend disbelief that a 12 year old, especially one from this generation, would be capable of more than peeing his pants at every turn. Not believable, IMO.

After two weeks of warnings, my cable company has blocked my access to AMC. I need some sort of box to get that channel now. So I called my Mom and she recorded it for me. I think she uses a different cable provider and they're doing the same thing. But still, I got to see Sunday's episode. I do love this show. But I figured out where I have a problem. In order for interesting plot points to occur, the characters have to do things that smarter people would not. So the whole premise interests me, but to see interesting things happen, I also have to watch people be uncommunicative, have no sense of community building skills, be sullen and isolate themselves (or allow despondent characters to isolate themselves), etc.

Luckily there is Hershel. Oh, how the groups needs him! Overall, I like most of the characters. I just wish one of them had either a background of community resource worker/builder or of therapy. Someone who will listen and help them sort out their struggles. Anyway, I'm going to stop trying to hunt down episodes of this show and just wait until it comes out on DVD. I've had fun with you guys over the years!

Bye. (that's the closest emoticon I saw that resembles a wave goodbye)

There was an article posted in this thread about the creative director being fired - at least, I think that is who it was. If not, it was a major participant in the show's production and there was concern about how well the show would do without him. So I'm basically on the look-out for changes in the show to its detriment. There was a musical interlude in the last show that I thought was completely unwarranted - seemed like just a space filler. And I agree with you that the way the group is falling apart and taking on sullen behaviours is a wee bit problematic. Glen's reaction to Maggie has seemed really out of the character the past few episodes. Is there a reason so much attention is being given to Rick's delusions? Isn't the audience smart enough to figure out that he's bound to come unravelled? And I agree that Hershel is the rock, but don't know that
    [/QUOTE]

You should have no problem finding the episodes on-line, I would expect, though I don't know how long you have to wait.
