Ok. I am not sure about the JGP and then skating Senior Sectionals. If you stay in the same group JGP and then Junior at Sectionals you have a bye for sure.

Well last year there were five COS senior women at the Challenge competition, with Najarro getting a bye (though she competed at sectionals) and she was on the JGP that season but skated senior in Canada.

Is anyone (else) planning to go to BC sectionals in Parksville? I'm likely to be there Fri-Sun.

I doubt they will skate too, though if they do, I'll be happy to photograph them for sure!
You can find a couple photos of Steele/Coté on my Flickr stream if you're interested: http://www.flickr.com/photos/2429168...57630676455176

I found the full explanation of byes on the BC/Yukon site.

    http://www.skatinginbc.com/sites/def..._approved4.pdf

    Relevant section:
ALL SENIOR EVENTS: Senior competitors who place first, second, third and fourth (first through eighth inclusive in Quebec) in the Skate Canada Sectionals qualifying event, may be selected by the relevant Section to represent the Section in the Skate Canada Challenge without further qualification.

COMPETITORS REGISTERED FOR SECTIONALS COMPETITION: Competitors who register for an event(s) at the relevant Sectionals Competition and who in the same competitive season have been assigned by Skate Canada or, in the case of a Senior Grand Prix, by the ISU Grand Prix selection group (or by Skate Canada in the case of home entries to Skate Canada International) to a Junior Grand Prix, Senior Grand Prix or International event, shall be granted an automatic entry into the Challenge Competition event for each event discipline in which such competitor was registered at such Sectionals Competition.

Competitors who register for Senior events at the relevant Sectionals Competition and: (i) who have been assigned by the ISU Grand Prix selection group (or by Skate Canada in the case of home entries to Skate Canada International) to a Senior Grand Prix; or (ii) who have qualified for the Junior Grand Prix Final event shall be granted an automatic entry into the Senior Canadian Championship event of the same event discipline in the same competitive season.

From above, Seguin will have a Bye through QC Sectionals, Daleman through CO Sectionals, and Chartrand through EO Sectionals. Lacoste and Osmond through to Nationals. Any predictions on sectionals? NL, NS, PEI, NB, EO, WO, NO, MB, and SK have either no Senior Ladies or all will advance to Challenge. QC, COS, AB, and BC will have qualifiers. Perhaps SC need to enable a minimum TES score for Challenge so you have to qualify as usual from the section and have a min score.

It's going to be very competitive in senior ladies at COS. Daleman has a bye but we have Najarro, DeSanctis, Gilles, Nishimura, Mutlu, and Yan who could all potentially qualify for Canadians but only four can make it to the Challenge.

Results from the two sectionals last weekend have been posted:

    Nova Scotia

    Northern Ontario

One skater I will be following with interest from NOS is Marika Steward. This season she is trying all of the triples (except 3A of course), and seems to be having increasing success with them. In terms of her technical content she reminds me of Chartrand, Daleman or Seguin from last season, when they were just adding the harder triples to their repertoire. It will be interesting to see if she can become consistent with them over the next season or two.

Thanks so much for the links danafan.. I love watching the juvies and the upcoming skaters from Quebec.. also nice to see my daughter's former home rink The reaction from Grace Lin - who won pre novice ladies was absolutely priceless.. she fell on her triple sal but some great quality to her skating and must be about 9 years old.. her coach was so lovely with her..

They are coming along nicely, aren't they? A bit of a slow start, but they're making excellent progress now. Kudos to the St. Leo coaches.

Please report back! I'm really interested in how Desanctis and Najarro look in particular.
