Maybe they should watch soaps on Univision, then.![]()
Maybe she should not let herself give interviews in English. Actually, maybe she shouldn't let herself out of the house.
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the universe.
Maybe she's thinking that if they don't watch English TV, they'll never learn what a ridiculous name "Apple" is for a child ...
Shame, a bunch of scientists in my lab got into biology because of David Attenborough's (English language) nature documentaries.
I guess her kids won't be curing cancer.![]()
She feels the need for her children to learn a language other then English?

I'm off to the Patrick Chan threads...where you can watch a molehill become a mountain in seconds!!!
Learning another language does not require banning television in their native language; they could watch both. And you can't deny that Gwyneth's pretentiousness is well-documented and may very well be her motive.
That's not a bad idea though. What a great way for kids to learn a foreign language, outside of actually living in the foreign country. Easy way to get the foreign language requirement once they're in college.
Just because it's not in English doesn't make it better. Pretentious twit.
There are people here who prefer to watch figure skating with non-English commentators because since they don't understand what they're saying they can't get angry.
If no one watched English language movies her career would plummet.

Even in English I think her career should plummet.
But of course she has no problem getting a paycheck acting on a TV show - in English.
Never mess with a geocacher. We know the best places to hide a body....
The article does not say she doesn't let her kids watch English-speaking TV.
I am surprised that she lets her kids watch TV at all.

I think it's great to have kids watch TV in another language - but it's just the way she comes across. It's irritating.

ETA: Well, crap. Wrong thread. So, uhm, I liked Emma.
Maybe so. But frankly, that doesn't make sense to me by itself. They aren't going to learn much watching TV in one other language, much less in two.
I do think I read somewhere that she has a nanny who speaks nothing but French to the kids? Yes? No? In that case, having them watch French TV would make sense. But why Spanish?
