Books purchased by close relatives during the late 1970s/early 1980s:

Some Men Are More Perfect than Others ("Merle Shain is a communicator.")
Real Men Don't Eat Quiche (Halston is a quiche-eater. "Real men have two names.")
    The Edgar Cayce Reader
    Rage of Angels

Kwanita Rhinestone: Excuse me, f_d, but don't you have two astrology books and a (largely pictorial) hagiography of Barbra Streisand in your room right now?
Me: Shut up, shut up, shut up!
Kwanita R: If you were going to give anyone the gift of Thomas Friedman's wisdom, you should've stolen it first.
Me: Why does everything have to be a contest?!

And so on and so forth...

You're right. I'm clueless as to "What does everything have to be a contest?!" even thinks it means.

Harry Potter, said the bitter former B&N cashier.

most amusing title of a Diana Gabaldon novel:

    The Fiery Cross
A Breath of Snow and Ashes
    An Echo in the Bone

    1. War And Peace. I don't even remember how many times I've read this book!
    2. Three Sisters
    3. I've always adored K/O's Carmen but I think if V/M skates their routine with more polish and effortlessness, that'll be my Carmen for-ever. Katarina's Carmen will always remain iconic in figure skating history book but I don't see any particularly great in terms of skating skills or choreography. It was all Katarina who breathed the program. And I love Yuna, but she wasn't displaying "it" factor she owns now in that Carmen at all which shows how much she improved as time went by.
