I want to feel sorry for Serena whenever she gets injured but then she has to let out her inner Bette Davis and then I don't care.
Congrats to Sloane on her 1st (hopefully of many) GS semifinal! She is still a work in progress but hopefully she can build on this. Also, I hope Madison Keys can mature quickly as well. We're in a good place with women but unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be an up and coming American male. Ryan Harrison does not count because I don't see anything in his game that suggests GS champion.
You shouldn't cross judgejudy; she knows everything.
Murray hasn't dropped a set on his way to the semi-finals, but he's had a relatively easy passage through. I'm excited to see how he does against Federer, who is still such a virtuoso at the age of 31.![]()
Ferrer/Djokovic looks an easier one to call, but Nole had a real struggle against Wawrinka, so who knows?
"I have been assured by a very knowing American of my acquaintance in London, that a young healthy child well nursed, is, at a year old, a most delicious nourishing and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled; and I make no doubt that it will equally serve in a fricasie, or a ragoust." ~ 'A Modest Proposal' ~ Jonathan Swift
I left my heart in Switzerland. Please Federer win another Slam, it's been too long.
I was very happy to see Sloane defeat Serena too. She can make herself very unpopular when she's upset on the court, as we've seen time and time again. Sloane showed that she has speed and can hit some hard shots. I think she could be a really good player.
Loved the Fed-Tsonga match. The semis are both matches I look forward to seeing! I wish Nadal was back to make up the quartet, but Ferrer is no slouch!!
Oh dear, Sharapova having a meltdown...2 double faults to start with plus 1 more later. Plenty of other missed serves and Li is now leading 4 - 1 in the first set.
I love how the 2 opening double faults were preceded by ESPN saying " Sharapova has been serving great in this tournament!"
Sharapova is not playing well at all, and Li is. But I would never count Maria out.
I swear, this is a match of who is less tennis dumb.
Na and Serena always have close matches, I think their most lopsided one ever is Na getting 7 or 8 games which against Serena is quite a feat. They have many 3 setters too. Serena just wins all the maches. Azarenka and Serena have had some close matches in the last 18 months since Serena came back, but alot of blowouts too (Olympics 2012, Canada 2011, U.S Open 2011). Although Azarenka came incredibly close to winning that U.S Open final but Serena was unusually flat footed that day. Anyway it is all moot as Serena is out.
As for my prediction I was quite correct that no fellow top player was beating Serena here, and that it would have to be a lower ranked one. Granted we didnt see a match with a top player happen, but that seems pretty obvious seeing what Serena did whenever another top player was on the other side of the net in 2012.
Li took the first set and now leads 4 - 2 in the second. Maria is just looking very out of sorts today for some reason - the amount of missed serves is incredible...
Na Na Na Na! Hey Hey! Goodbye!
Na into her 3rd GS final![]()
