Anyway, if Flatt doesn't deliver on the jumps, unfortunately she has nothing to fall back on. I didn't even think she'd compete this season, but if she does I fully expect her to be a non-contender (like Em Hughes was around 2008-2010, etc.- too hard to stay on top if you're doing full-time college work). If she enjoys it, more power to her, I won't stop her. Still, a part of me hates to see the skills of a former Olympian deteriorate so quickly and so dramatically like that.
Having said that, it is only September so obviously I wouldn't expect skaters to be at their best. Even if it's a disaster, there's plenty of time to turn things around. (Remember Asada during the Oly season?)
It seems based on the protocols that Rachael just went out to 'mark' the program; skate a choreographically clean program w/o any difficult jumps. Is that possible???
Or the fall on the 2axel and big -GOE on the only triple she attempted.
Why would she use a competition as a practice session? And she ought to know everyone is monitoring her progress.
After JGP Istanbul...

Well think about it Rachael and the other senior ladies had to do both programs in less than 8 hours. Her spins were simple no features in them really. She landed a few triple flips in the warm up! She looked upset after she skated the long. It's a start though it's not a major competition people!
I skated with Rachael before the competition I don't think she's injured.
Well, USFSA should figure out what they are going to do because other feds are looking for replacements.
Maybe Mirai would be better off at TEB, because there is no 'home skater' pressure. But it would be better from the ratings if she were at SA. Hmmm...

Pardon my ignorance, but which competition was it that Rachael was in? I'm unfamiliar with it, and can't seem to find a thread for it in Kiss & Cry.

It was just a club competition in Oakland, California called Skate St. Moritz (I mentioned it in the U.S. Club competitions thread in Kiss and Cry).

Oh, I must have overlooked that somehow. Thanks, Sylvia!

Maybe one of the Jr Grand Prix skaters (Cesario!!!!!!) can skate at SA. I know in 2009-10 and 2010-11 Mervin Tran and Narumi Takahashi did both JGP and GP competitions in the same season. Anyone know for sure if the rule has changed since then?
SA might be a nice opportunity for Siraj.
Do you guys really think that Rachael is going to get kicked off the SA list for her poor performance at a summer comp? Since when has USFSA been that proactive?
