Some very good Juvenile girls are skating their Final right now.
ETA: Gia Kokotakis won with "Over the Rainbow" and an unofficial score of 46.07.

Last event of Friday night: Intermediate Ladies SP (they qualified from yesterday's 3 FS qual. groups). Unofficial top 2: Daniela Dryden 35.46 (landed 3S+2T, 2A) and Isabella Smit 35.36 (wonderful Biellmann!).

Also, Vise/Baldwin (who have been added as the 3rd US pair for the Salt Lake Senior B in mid-September) skated their SP in exhibition at the Golden West club competition earlier today. I heard they scored 49.28, got Level 4 on their lift, sbs spin, and footwork, and landed sbs 3T, with hands down on the throw 3Lz.

Terrific start in juniors from Karen Chen! Just won the SP with 3lutz/3loop (I'm guessing some underrotation, but solid) and 3F. Score was in the 50's IIRC.

Has she actually tested up then for Nats?

52.79 was Karen Chen's unofficial Junior Ladies SP score - she skated to the film soundtrack of The House of Flying Daggers. Yes, she tested up to Junior earlier this summer. I caught the end of Katia Shpilband's "Singing in the Rain"/Hollywood medley(?) SP - her unofficial score was 44.82.

I saw Katia's program. Skated pretty well. Stepped out of her 3flip. Her combo was a 3lutz-2toe and was landed cleanly but perhaps the lutz was underrotated. The scores seemed a little low but maybe she lost some levels in addition to jump issues. I think this program is good for her - forces her to look up.

Karen was amazing. Yeah, I think the loop was underrotated. But it might be clean by Nats.

Yep, looks like they are running a bit behind. The Prelim girls are cute, though.

Nathan just skated - fell on the 3A attempt but the quality of his skating is just amazing. I thought that before - but that was a wow program.

Nathan Chen's ISU bio -- for his JGP debut in Austria in 2 weeks -- is online and lists his music:
SP: Preludium and Allegro by Franz Kreisler [classical violin piece]
    FS: The Three Musketeers (soundtrack)

Shotaro Omori landed a BIG 3A and 3Lz+3T before falling on 3F in his Tango SP - no wonder he was given a JGP assignment (#4 in Turkey) even though he missed qualifying for Nationals last year!

ETA Unofficial scores for top 3:
N Chen 69.39 - after falling his his 3A, he landed both 3Lz+3T and 3F for the second half bonus
    S Omori 63.83 - see above
    V Zhou 60.88 - 3Lz+3T, 3F, 2A (weird fall near end of program)

Just saw most of the junior men at the rink. Chen went down on the 3A - not enough speed, was off timing. The rest of his skating was very fluid and quiet. He is soooo tiny.

Omori's 3A was a beauty, but his basic skating is rather scratchy.

Good presentation skills from these young guys.

I know, I really should watch more of the lower levels. At least from the SWP region!
