question about hand-off of Olympic flag

Are there separate flags for the summer and winter games because I thought the flag from London would had been passed onto to Russia, home of the next Olympic games.

I think that's right although I can't find anything official about it. I do remember that Salt Lake had the Antwerp flag in a vault for years following the Nagano games. It was a very big deal to keep it safe and undamaged for the time they had it.

Salt Lake City never had the Antwerp flag for two reasons.

1. It was retired a couple decades before.

2. It was a winter Olympics. It would have had the Oslo flag.

You're right, I'm sure. I just remember the local medial talking about the Antwerp flag when it arrived in Salt Lake. They could have had it wrong.
