FYI: In case anyone else was wondering, only four of the Fierce Five US girls were at the Closing Ceremony today. Gabby is appearing on The Tonight Show tomorrow night so she flew back to the US all ready. What a bummer for her but I'm glad she's getting a chance to appear on something by herself so soon. All the girls will be on Letterman on Tuesday night which should be pretty fun.

Gabby needs to get herself a new agent. There's no reason why an agent could not have negotiated for a date later in the week. Gabby missed the Opening Ceremonies and now she's missing a once in a lifetime experience of the Closing Ceremonies. That just seems wrong.

My DirecTV crapped out so I can't watch it. The stupid London Gold thing here was listed when I was channel surfing and lo and behold it's the Closing Ceremonies. GRRR NBC.

My DirecTV went out too -- just in the middle of Annie Lennox, whose performance I missed earlier when NBC's live stream failed on me.

Now DirecTV is telling me to watch the SD broadcast, but they set my receiver so I only get the HD NBC channel.

And DirecTV returns just in time to see the human cannonball land in the net, Eric Idle wave at the crowd, and cut to a commercial. So we missed all of Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.

Even worse, at dinner with my brother -- a huge Monty Python fan -- I told him not to miss the Eric Idle performance. He has DirecTV too.
