Love how the pentathlon is described by a GB tv page:

This is a truly Olympic sport, invented and nurtured by the IOC's founder Baron de Coubertin. It's also an Edwardian James Bond fantasy. The Baron imagined a military officer trapped behind enemy lines; his return to safe ground required a swim to safety, a ride on an unfamiliar horse, fighting a duel, shooting at the enemy, and a run for home.

They never show any of the Pentathlon in Canada. I want them to rename it the James Bond Superspy competetion, and then it'll become the premier event!

CTV aired the last minute of the 50K racewalk. I love watching racewalking, because I know it's a sport I could have done well at. My natural walking pace is much faster than most people's. I also like the tension of the possiblity of disqualification for the entire race- it must take immense concentration in closely fought events.

May be not the olympics, but MP world cups are live for free on pentathlon.org

Olympics should be permanently in London. The crowds have been so supportive to all the competitors.

    Modern pentathlon swimming on now!

I'm watching synchro swimming replay... One question: the reserve, is she ready to jump in the pool if something happens during the program, or how does it work?

I'm sure they'll be a few rude Merikuns and Chinese in there too. Irish guy in there for the first time too and he is sort of porny for someone called Arthur Lanigan-O'Keeffe.

In essence yes... but that never happens. It's more like they are there in case a swimmer can't compete on competition day (say because of illness or injury.)

They talk about the curse of the Canadian flag bearer, but I think for every Canadian World Champion I've seen compete at the Olympics (in any sport), I've only seen about 1/10 even get a medal, let alone win. If I were a Canadian, I think I'd lose on purpose, the year before, to foil the jinx. If our TV coverage plays it like they are a medal contender, they are doomed.
