Personally, I think the last one (red cap sleeve) would work best. It's COLD out in the Berkshires in October and the cap sleeve would look great with a jacket.

I like the pink with the peplum, very on-trend. You can surely wear all those body-hugging shapes and bright colors!

But I agree that the weather is gonna be COLD for these dresses. Look into something that comes with a jacket, maybe, for the ceremony and outside, and then take it off the reception? Or that has long but lacey sleeves like this? http://www1.bloomingdales.com/shop/p...3D1%26rid%3D61

Thanks for the advice! I definitely want to go with a dress I will wear again, and I could see myself wearing #1, #2, and #6 again.

I've got in narrowed down to those three but now I've discovered this one!
    http://www.modcloth.com/shop/dresses...ss-in-cinnamon

My boyfriend hates it, and thinks it's too "old lady-ish" but his daily wardrobe consists of sweatpants and backwards baseball caps, so what does he know?

I like the idea of wearing long sleeves, but if I find a dress with short sleeves that's fine too, since I can pair it with a jacket or sweater. I will definitely be wearing nylons to keep my legs warm! Luckily the wedding is at 2pm, so it won't be as cool as an evening wedding. The invitation said the ceremony will be outside, weather permitting.

ETA: Thanks for posting that dress PRLady! I actually already have a dress that's similar, that I've worn quite a few times already..I love it!

I like the blue one ... In fact that is the one that I almost ordered for a wedding event this coming weekend. I eventually though, decided on this LBD route, because I wanted sleeves, and something that I could dress down for other occasions.

Now I'm just trying to figure out accessories. I'm going to with these red pumps and a matching clutch.

Now just trying to figure out accessories (I don't wear earrings, so it's probably going to be a cuff or some kind and maybe a hair clip).

When I dress it down, it'll be with boots and tights.

    #2 and #6, as well.
I also agree that you will definitely need a jacket.

Impromptu, I can't see the links.

Goes to show how tastes differ, but I think that one is too young looking for you. That style dress is pretty common at bat mitzvahs.

2 or 6 - I also like 1, but if the peplum ends up hitting you in the wrong place, it won't look good.

I don't think it's old ladyish, I agree with Aceon6, it looks young. It's cute but has a very different feel. The other dresses are more sexy. The lace dress is more '50s ingenue.

Changing topic a bit. Daughter's wedding date it set. Early next September. Now the hunt is on, we have a year! We will look for hers first. I saw a dress that I think would be amazing on her, she likes it. : http://www.jlmcouture.com/Jim-Hjelm/...012/Style-8214
But, I told her we have to go with no set style in mind. That she has to try on ball gown, mermaid, fit and flair, sheath - all styles. That is the only way she will know what looks best on her. Can't wait! Engagement party at our house in 2 weeks, then we can shop!

I'm still undecided if I want long or knee length for me. I will have to try things on but I do like the look of this: http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/...&bmUID=jDU_zjj It's very much me. Simple with very little embellishment. But, I want to wait a bit. I'm afraid I'll find something I like better. Also, if I wait, it might go on sale and be more affordable.

    You have time, crusin.

Finding your daughter's dress may suggest the ideal one for you.
I'm sure that the "FSU Posse" can locate the best "deal", too!

Oh, hilarious. My daughter and I decided that the winner of the best-dressed at the Emmys was Hayden Panettiere...who was wearing....Marchesa. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...QEwBA&dur=2775

I think Marchesa makes the most scrumptious gowns of all. So keep an eye on the price, it would look incredible on you.

(And it is funny that Hayden is about a foot shorter than you are and still looked gorgeous.)

ETA: Next month I start to help my niece find a wedding gown. She's 5'1" tall if she stands up straight...at least your daughter doesn't have that issue!

Love, love, love Hayden Panettiere's dress! Marchesa is fabulous. The dress I linked is the Marchesa Notte line. The affordable line. I love Badgley Mischka too. And Zac Posen.

I have to say Hayden Panettiere looked good. The hair and make-up were clean and classy and the dress very interesting. Most other ladies and some of the gents were disasters.
