Late chiming in on the breast reduction surgery, but I think it is something that can change your life based on the comments of friends who have had it done. My best friend back home was 5'1" and was around a G cup, had reduction because of the chronic neck/back pain and has never regretted it. A co-worker had breast reduction surgery at a fairly young age (30) for the same reason of pain and may have had an even greater benefit from it. She was diagnosed with breast cancer 1.5 years ago (34 years old), she found the lump initially on a self exam. She was not at the age for a baseline mammogram and didn't have any risk factors that would require one. She ended up having the type of breast cancer that genetically has an extremely high recurrence rate and she opted for a double mastectomy. She was bemoaning the "wasted money" of the breast reduction surgery and the oncologist told her that the surgery may have saved her life because the tumor would likely have gone undetected until it was much larger and with a greater chance of having already metastasized.

I'm assuming that was a magazine shoot. So I would guess that the Harper's people picked out the outfit and cleaned and groomed her. Can't imagine her accomplishing that by herself.

I never knew my Sexy Divorced Coworker had the surgery, in her early thirties. A mutual friend told me yesterday, I headed down the hall to ask SDC about it. She closed the door, pulled up her shirt and bra and provided me with a first-hand look. (I love this coworker.)

The scars are certainly there but what nice small perky boobs she has, and her body is nicely balanced. I have an appointment with an orthopedist after T'giving to talk about the upper back and neck pain; I'll see what happens after that but will certainly consult with a reduction specialist, then make up my mind.

Back to clothing. This was supposed to be a very low-shopping fall, but losing seven pounds meant that more than half of my slacks don't fit. I've quickly purchased four new pairs in various cheapie places and on sale. Maybe it's just as well I lost no weight up top, then I'd have to replace shirts and jackets too. Meaning that surgery would cost a LOT in the long run in replacement clothing!

I'm jealous of your courage. I wish I was not so chicken. I have felt bad about that part of myself for decades. And I get blisters on my shoulders, when it's really hot, from straps rubbing. But, my OCD side is worried that I'd gain weight if I couldn't walk my 3 miles, the next day.

I don't have OCD, just your usual vain middle-aged woman's weight obsession and believe me it occured to me what would happen without being able to exercise for weeks. I gained a few pounds from foot surgery immobilization two years ago....

PRLady, if your neck and low back pain are related to your breast size, than your reduction would be a medical procedure and therefore, should be covered by your insurance.

Nobody likes hospitals but this is major surgery and I ain't doing it in some storefront clinic. And if you find a twofer on neck tightening, man, I'll come to New Jersey and we can share a room!

Today I'm wearing a rather form-fitting periwinkle blouse I bought in Israel and the aforementioned shoes with the teal-and-purple insets with a black pantsuit. (It's remotely possible I might have to do TV today.) You know how some days you look in the mirror and think, I look good? Usually not so many days? Today is one of those days.
