    Most of them are using the "Baccarole" music for a big part of the program. If he's focusing on the big aria, it should have a very different feel.

    Or Men. A qualifying country can have different competitors for the SP/SD and FS/FD in two of the four disciplines, but, unless they don't qualify anyone, in which case they can appoint another skater/team, everyone who skates in the Team event must also skate in the Individual event.

    I know they're trying to keep the numbers down, but I think it would be interesting to allow different skater/teams to do the Team Event. They could spread the wealth, and they could also assign a "specialist" to one of the events, like a strong short or long program skater.

    Interesting!

    I have been watching and going through every skater's routine with a fine-tooth comb. I think I have come up with some new elements -- the quad, some spins and even footwork -- but I still believe the winning program will be a clean one.

    And that may even be true. Scoring at the Olympics can sometimes be different than worlds because figure skating is on display to the world. They may be less likely to reward a difficult program with falls at the Olympics than they would be at worlds. I don't think that means that someone with no quad will win again. But a clean program from Dai with one quad may be more likely to beat a messy program from chan with two quads at the Olympics than it would be at worlds.

    Also the men have to make the team first and doing code whoring clean programs has a good chance of making a world/olympic team over the falling on quad guys. Most of the guys don't have Chan's skating skills to go along with the quads. But you have to skate clean and code whore to death. Evan could succeed at that but he has landed quads in the past. Kind of any way. He just had injuries that prevented them and that along with strategy allowed him to be quad less but win 3/4 years ago.

    Interestingly, injuries did not prevent quite a few other skaters from going for quads around that time. I really think that if a quad had been necessary to win, Lysacek and Carroll would have found a way to train and attempt it. But luckily for him, the rules at the time and the state of the rest of the men's field made it easier to win without a quad. Not so anymore - I hope, because with or without a quad, there are far better skaters than Lysacek.

    At 2011 worlds Kozuka beat Chan on the tech score so there is that marker. Kozuka was cleaner with one quad in the FS and none in the SP. Before he was beaten by Takahashi at the WTT the last person to beat Chan was Verner doing an exact copy of Lysaceks free skate technical layout when Chan zayaked. I remember Lysacek bringing up Verner's win in a chat he had. He could still be thinking of that.

    I wouldn't say "quite a few" the jump was really vanishing and it was Joubert and Verner only really at 2009 worlds and in the 2009-2010 GP season Plushenko was added. Lambiel didn't do the GP season. No medalist at the GPF in 2009 did a quad. Lysacek, Oda and Weir. Takahashi didn't do a successful quad all season 2009-2010. Van Der Perren dropped the quad for the Olympic season so did Oda.

    Finally!!! I'm really excited about Evan's return. Love the music choices of both his SP and LP, I've heard wonderful feedback about the programs.

    His top notched dream team will help him to go back to the top form. He was there before, and he'll be there again, better than ever!

    Wish him the best of luck, he'll be a great value add to Team USA!

    Looking forward to this! It'll be interesting to see how things shake up. I always liked Evan. Hope he'll branch out a bit with music like what he's got lined up.

    It's official. I am madly in love with Meryl Davis.

    If so, the music cut might be similar to Buttle's Torino LP.

    Lambiel's music style -> Evan's SP
    Buttle's music style -> Evan's LP

    Am I seeing a pattern here? Evan Lysacek, the new "artistic" skater!

    Buttle and Lambiel put me to sleep. Watching skaters with less good artistic skills is way more fun.

    Well, if he's copying artistry, at least he's copying skaters that actually are artistic. Imagine if he was "borrowing" from someone like Kevin van der Perren
