Don't hate me for writing this, but I had a hard time taking synchronized swimming seriously yesterday. I have no doubt that it is difficult, but I thought that they looked rather, well, silly.
Maybe, if they didn't have fake smiles all the time...

I may be suggesting heresy, but what would happen if synchronized swimmers were allowed to touch the bottom of the pool - maybe just on some moves? I envisioning some really big lifts and throws.

For me the eighth place finisher looks as good as the first place finish in synchro which tells you how little I know about the sport. I want to be enertained and if I was handing out gold for that it would be Team Canada hands down.

Synchro is very deceiving to the regular viewer unfortunately.. I competed for years so it's easier for me to tell the amazing routines from the good ones, but I know it's not a super easy thing. Even my mom doesn't always understand.
But I'm so proud of how well Team Canada swam! I loved that routine, so creative and unique. They should be so proud, they've worked really hard for the past four years! I know one of the girls on the team, we swam at the same club and everyone knew she was so talented from the first day.

It's only our second gold ever She had soooo much pressure and expectation and I'm glad she handled it so well!

I think the most offending kitsch is just all those start movements before jumping on the pool. Today the Spanish team formed two figures that wanted to be fishes and before they jumped the swimmers at the end of it made a movement with the hands like the fishes were moving their tail, I just couldn´t prevent Originally Posted by algonquin

Colombia 8 medals at this games with one gold, spectacular performance, surpassing the medal tally of Argentina and Mexico. At the last Pan Am Games they showed that something has been done very well with the sport in the country so I am glad that the colombian athletes delivered in various sports. A high set for next Olympics but maybe this is just an indication of what is coming in the near future.

Awwww we lost to the Brits in the Hockey but yay we won gold over Team GB in the Women's sailing. Wheeee and we got a silver in BMX.
Now have 4 Gold, 3 Silver and 5 Bronze. Those 4 golds are our second best gold haul ever and our 12 medals are our second best medal total. Yay.
