The Russian didn't go for anything. She stayed on the back foot for 3 rounds hoping to get a sly left hand and win by 1 point.
It was probably the best tactic for the Russian since she was utterly inferior, but it's awful for viewers.

Katie never panicked, stayed with her plan and won.

To think that fun is simple fun, while earnest things are earnest, proves all too plain that neither one thou truthfully discernest.

I am so impressed with the leadership and the tenacity of those girls to come back and win that medal. France outplayed them the entire time but close only counts in horseshoes. France probably should have won that game but for these girls to come back and win a medal after having the win taken from them is beyond anything I could have imagined.

Lets face it, after the World Cup in 2011, the women's program was in shambles. They had three humiliating losses, disappointed everyone and had a coach who thought of herself more than the team. Now with John Herdman, he's displayed the necessary leadership to help these girls, they've shown how strong they are, and for them to win a medal... it's amazing.

Hats off Team Canada! You've earned this one!
All this and more!! It was a very good day when John Herdman was hired last year and for him to have taken this program to where it achieved what it did today, in little more than a year? Just incredable!!

Congratulations Ladies!! Enjoy your Celebration, you more than earned it!!

Congratulations as well to Ireland and Hungary!!! When it comes to the Swimmer from Hungary, I think it's far more fitting it was only her Family and Friends there to cheer her on. Considering how the Media has treated her and in turn brainwashed the majority of the fans from the sound of it, I'd think she's far happier w/her very small cheering section who's been there through thick and thin w/her, than a huge horde of Hungarian fans IMO.

^^Yeah, NBC does this at the end of their nightly telecast. Since I don't give a flying feck about who has how many medals, I find it a perfect time to go fix another drink.

According to them GB are 4th in the table as Russia have more total medals than us - currently 55-51 - though we have 24 golds to their 11

And medals for Colombia keep coming, a bronze in womens wrestling

Now Colombia has one more than Mexico, though we will have at least a silver in the football but until saturday we will know what colour will be

Six medals for Colombia, they surely are doing something good with their sports program because this performance has been beyond expectations
