2012 London Olympics - Day Thirteen - General Thread

Athletics and other sports (that nobody is really interested in ) , but more importantly finals of the women's boxing tournament! C'mon Katie Taylor!

There is open swimming. I'm so looking forward to it

I want a world record broken in track and field but I don't see it happening. The diving looks good. I'd be brilliant at that considering how I panicked jumping off the 3m springboard.

Getting the highlights of the decathlon 110m hurdles at the moment. So much hotness.

And South Africa and Kenya take each other out. Pistorius doesn't even get to run.

Whoa watching dressage final live! Or, listening is more correct, I'm supposed to be working...

The music is fab, just like 80-ies skating! The strangest cuts and really elevatoresque.
Marina, Marina, Marina! Marina Kielman used that in 95!!

The 10km swim is all sorts of fascinating. PML at the big poles they have to hands drinks to the swimmers!

I definitely had a really detailed dream about diving last night. Is this a sign I'm watching too much Olympics? Or just the right amount?

I can see you throwing off the rider and doing disco or breakdance steps instead with your glittery hooves - mlp brings solo dressage into the late 20th century!

Oh my goodness, you guys please give a huge cheer to the Hungarian girl Eva Risztov for winning the 10km marathon, this was totally unexpected and this girl has been through SO much. She used to be a freestyle/butterfly/medley swimmer and has been harassed and put down and written off and just plain ignored by the Hungarian media so many times because she "failed" to become the prodigy eveyone wanted her to be ("failure"=winning "only" silver/bronze at world and euro championships and never winning an oly medal) she retired in 2005 and then she came back as an open water swimmer a few years ago.
She was completely ignored this time around too, this was the first medal ceremony for where you couldn't hear any Hungarians chanting in the background, which is saying a lot because the Hungarian hardcore fans are great at showing up and cheering loud as hell for all of our athletes and despite this being a free event, it seems noone but family even came to cheer for her. So please can you give her a cheer, she deserves it so much! Amazing girl!!!

And cheers also for the silver medalist Haley Anderson for an amazing finish, so so close!
Don't you find it worrying that doctors call treating you their "practice" ?

Canada wins bronze in women's soccer! It's Canada's first traditional team sport medal since 1936

I am so impressed with the leadership and the tenacity of those girls to come back and win that medal. France outplayed them the entire time but close only counts in horseshoes. France probably should have won that game but for these girls to come back and win a medal after having the win taken from them is beyond anything I could have imagined.

Lets face it, after the World Cup in 2011, the women's program was in shambles. They had three humiliating losses, disappointed everyone and had a coach who thought of herself more than the team. Now with John Herdman, he's displayed the necessary leadership to help these girls, they've shown how strong they are, and for them to win a medal... it's amazing.

Hats off Team Canada! You've earned this one!
    Kyle
