A question about gliding with a Partner

Say,this question came to me not too long ago. I was just wondering if anyone could help me understand how it is possible to do,and why Ice-Dancers and Pairs Skaters keep gliding on their Blades, while Skating with a Partner in their arms? (Such as when the Boy Ice-Dancer Skates holding the Girl across his body in the air). Rather then just slide to a stop from the extra wieght added by their Partner.

They definitely have to push harder when they are stroking if they are holding their partner up. But people of every weight and height and size can glide on ice, and a skater holding their partner is no different from them - they just have to be balanced and to push hard enough with their blades.
