Yes 2008 was it's first outing as an Olympic sport - trying to get more young streetwise people interested in sport and taking part in competition - a little like including snow-boarding in the winter Olympics

I must admit the sports this afternoon aren't grabbing me - will have to wait for the athletics tonight to get me going again.

I am looking forwards to the womens 10km swim tomorrow morning however - I just loved it in Bejing

A bronze for Canada ( defending gold from 2008) in women's wrestling but what a way to win it. A drawing of balls.

    weird sport.

I'm in two million depressions, the reigning and three time Olympic champion Hungarian men's water polo team has just lost the quarter final against Italy, and unfortunately they deserved it. Truly the end of an era for us, but all good things have to come to an end I guess. Still for the past 12 years.

Otherwise a great day for Hungary, two golds in the kayak, which means we have finally overtaken Michael Phelps on the medal table.
Don't you find it worrying that doctors call treating you their "practice" ?

Excellent game by the Brazilian women to fight back for the bronze medal in beach volleyball. I thought they were doomed for sure in the middle of the 2nd match, but what a come back. I'm rooting for the USA in the gold medal match.

Misty and Kerri Threepeat! And way to go Jen and April for silver.

    KERRI AND MISTY DID IT!!!!!

SO HAPPY for them. I really wanted this for them after having to come back from injuries and time off and such. They are legends in beach volleyball and I'm thrilled.

I was so nervous for them that I watched track instead and followed the score online. I only turned the feed on when it got to match point. :p It's bad of me, I know, but I just can't handle the tension lol!

Still can't believe that someone would choose to be called Misty May.

Anyway, Ireland gets a fifth guaranteed medal to equal our best ever performance at an Olympics!

    Kudos to Canadians for taking
Silver in Kayak-1 1000 by Van Koeverden
Bronze in Canoe-1 1000M by Oldershaw
    Bronze in Women's 48K Wresting
and in the men's decathlon, a young Canadian is in 3rd after 5 events (aka after day one)!!

Came sooooo close in wrestling to getting another bronze but could not "seal the deal".
Regardless, a pretty good day today by Canadian athletes.
    Crazy about sports!

And Colombia wins another medal, bronze in the taekwondo men's 58 kg division after a very close end, the score was 6/4 but in the last second the guy from Thailand seemed to have score a punch in the head, giving him 3 points and the 7/6 advantage but after reviewing the score it showed the colombian narrowly avoided the kick, then the score didnt proceed and he kept the victory and the medal

This is their 5th overall and still with chances of more medals in the BMX

Record breaking for Colombia, what a games

thank you allezfred. i was just thinking the irish rider could have had a chance to set the pace if he'd gone first.
Oh tomorrow's gonna be ugly once all those BMXer's are all the course at the same time. There were some pretty spectacular crashes in Beijing IIRC.

And for also helping Canadians to smile again after the last couple of days. Loved Mark's reaction once he realized he had done it and for the first time in his Family's history of competiting at the Olympics in Canoe, he'd won an Olympic Medal for them. Just priceless!!

Still can't believe just how many have gotten bitten and badly by the hurdles during these Games. Just unreal!!

I'm still about the soccer team losing in the group stages and being deprived of my bf the rest of the tournament. But good for Spain for picking up a gold medal. Am sure all the talk of 'worst start of the Olympics since Seoul' couldn't have helped.
