I just watched a video of Olga Korbut someone had posted. She is the reason I became a gymnast as a kid. I still like her bar and beam routine better than anyone's today....same with early Nadia. The only memorable floor ex in recent years for me was the ballet focused routine by Lilia Podkopayeva. If people have others to post with great artistic impression, I'd love to see them. Maybe we need a thread just for that

Because gymnasts like Mustafina and Komova due try to make it beautiful. If you were to take some snapshots of Komova especially on floor, she hits some gorgeous photos. On beam as well. I'd rather have that than nothing.

Do they speak English to each other I wonder? Or does she already know Spanish? Fortunately Romanian's a Romance language so can't be too horribly difficult to pick up.

Well, it has now been debunked by both Tommy Ramos and his mom.

But apparently they are in a relationship.

Because she apologizes for being too emotional and blaming her coaches, but only mentioned being congratulated after the routine. I definitely feel expecting a separate 'well done' moment after the actual medal was decided (or awarded, whatever you'd prefer) seems very reasonable and warranted. She never said 'I wasn't congratulated at all', only that she wasn't congratulated on her medal and that statement seems to stand. And she really did get the briefest of handshakes after her floor routine...

There is still artistic gymnastics going on

I thought they were all finished. How many "rounds" of competition are there?
I count the first round which qualifies you for other rounds.
Then there's a round of teams competing for medals
Then there's a round for all around.
Last there's a round for each piece of equipment.
Am I missing something?

That being said, they need to reconfigure those tiebreaks. They are absolutely ridiculous and make losing a medal that much worse.

to those who doubted her! There's a wonderful documentary that's currently airing on the comcast sports channel about Aly Raisman...if anyone here lives in New England, I definitely recommend watching it. When everyone talks about what a hard worker Aly is, you can definitely see that coming through in the documentary.

I would freaking pee myself to watch a documentary on McKayla Maroney...that would be freaking amazing.
