And yes I just love ROMANIA and have such a bias for particular countries and have no ability to decipher between routines.

I'm really happy the Allies both got golds. Beautiful form and just and hard work and dedication both rewarded.

I know, right! She's such a sweet person and a very hard worker whose commitment and dedication have paid off! I'm so happy for her! Aly!

Is it me, or did the crowd seem less than thrilled about Aly winning? They seemed reserved when she got her medal.

I was replying right after Cloudy_Gumdrops talked about Ponor's form. I wasn't talking about Ferrari.

    Touchy much?

I agree with the poster above who said it was fabulous to see that the event final golds were won by different countries - Romania, Russia, China and USA.

GOLD FOR ALY RAISMAN!!! I am SO excited for her! She has shown herself to be an amazing, supportive team mate, a great team leader, and an abcolute class act. Not to mention her tumbling is out of this world. SO glad she earned herself this GOLD!

Starting to think the judges are having some sort of protest of the tie break rules. they've got to go. It sucks. "Sorry, you were just as good, but we only have one of these."

I only wished a gold going to an obskure country ala mens event final. Almost all the medals went to ppwerhouses in the womens comp

I was never a big Raisman fan prior to the games, but her fight and competitive spirit have won me over. So proud of her!

I'm also thrilled to see Mustafina be so successful at these games. To come back as she did from her injury and compete as well as she did is killer. She's a total

Totally content with Raisman and Ponor as 1 and 2, two epic performances. Nailed landings and Raisman's first pass was just exceptional.

Ponor had a way more likable routine, nailed her second pass with a back tuck to boot.....but under this code, she was never going to get the gold.

Bronze....pissed off. But now I'm turning into Bek, milking my opinion.

Deng Linlin is Olympic Champion on beam She's been the best Chinese beam worker all quad IMO, I just love her acrobatic elements. I've considered her the dark horse the past two years here but wow unexpected great job! She's also the first Chinese gymnast to win two golds in two different Olympics. Always the overlooked one, in Beijing, even when she was World BB champion, look at her now!

And I have to hand it to the top 3 on floor - those were probably the 3 best routines any of them have ever done (maybe Mustafina 2010 worlds better). If you blink at just the right time, Aliya's triple twist shouldn't be a .5 deduction and then you just remember her gorgeous carriage and attention to detail.

Ponors music sounds like it was played on a church organ. It was clean but it's like music a level 7 would have at a state meet, she should've used the original. Cleanest set she's had though, but really that triple was the second most offensive pass behind Aliyas of this final.

Aly I think that's the best she's ever done, I knew this would be hers after the 1st pass because you've just never seen her nail one like that. Her parents will probably make another appearance tonight.

Izbasa. I think that the gym gods decided to sacrifice Maroney here so Izbasa could keep their OGM since 1976 streak going (that's incredible), so that's why that happened. she was beautiful otherwise, easily my favorite routine tonight even with her Rebecca Bross moment.

But yeah - Raisman, Ponor, Mustafina

    Just lovely.

That would have been awesome. If only Beth had nailed that landing.....

Still wish Defournet had made bars final.

poths, methinks Sabrina Vega will be lucky to make any more USA teams with the junior talent coming up.

I don't know what to say. Artistry isn't rewarded really.. Except when you can screw over a gymnast from a non top 4 country in favor of a gymnast from the top 4..

I could agree with Aliya getting it over artistry if Ponor did too. Although I must say Aliya's Double Arabian is HUGE.

There is much more diversity on the men's side.

The whole specialist thing has actually worked out well for them.
