I am in the K&C at the 1980 Olympics telling Frank Carroll he will have a male skater from KAZ with a 4T, 3A-3T and a World Silver going into the 2014 Olympics ...

Fighting doesn't mean you always stay on beam or don't wobble. It means even in the face of all these things you still keep going and fighting for your landings. Komova wobbles and then falls off and then totally gave up on her dismount. If Mustafina had had that kind of attitude, she would have missed out on bronze in AA.

Komova's a very emotional girl and that makes her lose focus for a time when she makes a mistake.I'm all for wishing she had more control but she's just a teenager and not a robot. Sometimes mental toughness isn't as easy as we would like for our talented athletes.

Raisman is the opposite of Komova - lots of fight but no style....

Is Lu Sui crying because she ended up with silver?

Porno looks like she's had some hard living in the past 8 years.....
To think that fun is simple fun, while earnest things are earnest, proves all too plain that neither one thou truthfully discernest.

Which is fine, but she's not even an competitor at this point. So frustrating for gymnastics fans to continuously watch an exceptional gymnast who is a shit competitor.

I agree completely with this. Komova has a lot of talent, but I'm a bit "underwhelmed" with her fortitude as a competitor in these games. Granted, she's had some disappointment. But she needs a kick in the behind if she expects to be an international competitor like Mustafina.

I've been watching gymnastics a LOT of years, and yes, USA did have to protest a lot in the past. Lately, maybe not so much, but Aly's protest was well founded.

Sui Lu is definitely a sad silver medallist.

Same planet where Ponor's no longer Queen of Self-Assurance, but wobbles on turns and leaps . I just hope she channels this into a full-out FX. No more single tucks, gf! Layout full-ins and full difficulty! She can still get her individual medal on FX.

I agree. To add insult to injury the whole tie break system is a mess. Give two medals and be done with it!

Is it only a matter of time before skaters will be able to review their < and protest?

Someone said that maybe the problem was Komova wants it to much so when she's not perfect realizes gold will be difficult she gives up. She needs to accept she's not perfect, results won't always come her way but learn how to fight through things..

I think this was Sui Lu's one chance to win an individual Olympic Gold, since she didn't make the floor final. She is 20 now. She is only a beam / floor - specialist - I'm not sure she will make another Olympics.

Welcome to 2012 too bad you missed the last 20 years or so. Quick update: USA is the new Soviet Union when it comes to judging.

I probably looked as young at 19.

Wish Sui Lu could be happier...it really is all about expectations I guess. But has China ever gone 1-2 on beam? We've come some way from the headcases at least. (((Yang Bo)))

Aly needs a full set of medals, like Mustafina. Therefore, I'm rooting for her to win silver in the FX.
