The BBC commentator had wonderful superlatives for all the gymnasts and then she gets to Raisman and the best she could come up with was "punchy." Bless her.

I think this was Sui Lu's one chance to win an individual Olympic Gold, since she didn't make the floor final. She is 20 now. She is only a beam / floor - specialist - I'm not sure she will make another Olympics.

I'd like to see Sui, Sandra or Afan win... I'd like that to be the podium too; Raisman has her medal and I think all three are the more complete floor exercise packages.

Iordache's injured at least. You could see her favoring her left heel on the landing of her full in. She had no business in the EF. BB is hard enough as it is, never mind on 1.5 feet instead of 2. Bulimar was in with a chance to medal had she gone super clean

Oh, you are right. This is sad for Diana. Of course it is a lot of "what if" and it is likely that she would have wobbled as well but giving up a place to a medallist is surely easier than to a sixth place finisher...

Ponor is one of my favorite gymnasts on BB, and I was hoping she would medal, but her performance today was crap and in no way was deserving of a medal.

There is something appealing about always hitting and I really like that she IS a robot, not kind of a robot, not a potentially graceful but unfortunately Robotic gymnast. She is the EPITOME of a robot, so don't hate, Terminate!

Yes. She wanted to be the winner and can't deal with losing to her teammate. How non American of her.

Porno looks like she's had some hard living in the past 8 years.....

Fighting doesn't mean you always stay on beam or don't wobble. It means even in the face of all these things you still keep going and fighting for your landings. Komova wobbles and then falls off and then totally gave up on her dismount. If Mustafina had had that kind of attitude, she would have missed out on bronze in AA.

I know what fighting means. But Aliya's beam and floor were subpar and she made many mistakes that certain people might consider "not fighting". I say this as a huge Musty fan, by the way.

I haven't seen the event finals today so I cannot comment on what happened on beam. However, I think people, including myself, are extremely hard on Komova because of her potential.

I still think that she showed plenty of fight in the AA after missing vault. She could've easily given up.

Shame Afan doesn;t have decent difficulty on BB, she is so freaking artistic.

She'll probably fck up floor now because we all know she has has at best a 50% hit rate, and, well, she's just hit 50 %!

She made Komova and Maroney look like perfect angels...What's wrong is her refusing to shake her own teammate's hand. This isn't Deng's fault Sui. I take back my winning her to have a floor title. I do think she's better than Deng on beam and it was bad judging. Obviously things like extension/look don't really matter anymore but STILL.

Komova's a very emotional girl and that makes her lose focus for a time when she makes a mistake.I'm all for wishing she had more control but she's just a teenager and not a robot. Sometimes mental toughness isn't as easy as we would like for our talented athletes.

Maybe Russia should do what the British commentators suggest, to make her fight for her place on the team instead of annointing her.
