I'm not suprised these event finals have been rough for Gabby. She's got so much going on with the Team and AA golds. I'm sad to see her miss but, after years of inconsistency on beam, she hit the three most important beam routines of her life. So I don't feel too bad for her. She got the ones that mattered most.

Add to that the ridiculous drama with her hair and her mother's finances and she looks a bit worn out.

Whoever did the profile photos for the athletes must do mug shots as their everyday career. They're atrocious.

Argh! So nervous for beam finals. I hope Gabby has her head in the game. She posted this to Facebook and it made me sad and nervous for her:

Whew I finally got some good rest after having to deal with some of this negativity. First my hair - then my mom. I guess noone could wait till we finished competing so that we could keep our concentration and focus. But you know what one more final to go! Ladies let's make it count!!!! LET'S GET EM!!

Dear Gabby, please rise above all the drama in the press and online and don't read any of it. Just stay in your bubble and try to do your very best, just as you did in the Team Final and All-Around. Best wishes!

Gabby the first AA gold medalist to not medal in EF.

Not too surprising these days. In the past, teams were comprised of mostly AAers. Lately, there are so many event specialists that it is tough for an AA to score high enough in any one event.

With the exception of Komova's leo yesterday, IMO Russia has had the best leos of the comp, with GB 2nd. The U.S, meh.
