Sally Pearson looking fantastic and Lolo Jones only third. Should go through on that time though.

Wow - Ilya Zakharov of Russia won the 3m springboard - that's a bit of a shock to the Chinese![]()
Konspiracy! The disciplinary action was probably decided before the game even started!
I thought this was interesting:
linkIt was no secret Canada's strategy against the deeper, more talented Americans was to slow the game down. That included, Wambach said, having goalkeeper Erin McLeod hold the ball as long as possible, even over 15 seconds at times during the first half. Soccer rules say the goalkeeper must get rid of the ball within six seconds.
During the second half, with the U.S. frantically trying to speed up the game while attempting multiple comebacks, Wambach began running near referee Christiana Pedersen and counting off the seconds that McLeod held the ball. She said she often got to 10 and into even the teens.
"I wasn't yelling. I was just counting," Wambach revealed Wednesday during an interview at the team hotel. "Probably did it five to seven times."
The last time came in the 78th minute, with Canada trying to milk a 3-2 lead. McLeod made a save, and Wambach began counting again.
"I got to 10 seconds right next to the referee, and at 10 seconds she blew the whistle," Wambach said.
I wonder if Wambach counted the way my daughter does when I say "just a minute" but she doesn't want to wait. Super fast!![]()
Creating drama!
GB have reached their pre-Games medal target of 48.

Too bad no one was counting when the American goalie was holding the ball. She also held it for over 6 seconds but no one called her on it let alone having a Canadian do the counting for the ref. It's not Wambach's place to count out loud for the ref but to play soccer. One thing bugs me. If the ref called the Canadian for holding it too long, wasn't the ref supposed to give a warning? I don't think that happened either.
As for reprimanding the Canadian team, should that go through then I will be 100% convinced the "beautiful game" is nothing but fixed to favour certain teams at all levels. I'll take hockey, thank you very much.
Crazy about sports!
Sorry for another post but just wanted to say well gutted out for Alex Despatie in diving and thank you to all those who were at the diving and gave a big round of applause after Alex botched his final dive.
Also, really pleased to see two women in the FINAL for the 100 m hurdles, placing 6th and 7th.
Oh yeah, and here's to a big wheeeeeee for our first medal in "field" a bronze by a young man who hails from Corunna ONT -- a mere 15 minute drive along the river (OK, 20 minutes in the winter).
Crazy about sports!
Canada isn't going to get three medals in track, one was a realistic expectation, I just don't think they expected it to be Derek DrouinHe has no previous multi-games experience or World Championship experience, to come through with an Olympic medal on your first go around is insane. But good for him! I'm really glad he was able to get on the podium.

Is counting against the rules? If not, then I'd call what Wambach did a strategic move that payed off for her and her team. I guess it was also a risky strategy - if I were the referee I'd have been really annoyed by it! In any case, it is prettyto picture.
Regarding the warning, she admits to being warned by the linesman, but there is disagreement as to whether she was warned by the referee. I guess anyone who cared could check the tape to verify. From the link above:
McLeod, the goalkeeper, claimed she had the ball a far shorter time and the ref shouldn't have included the few seconds it took for her to get up off the ground. She also said she was never warned by Pedersen herself; she merely was given a general reminder about speeding up play from a linesman at halftime.
...
Wambach disputes that, saying that after she started the counting routine Pedersen continually told McLeod to speed up play and McLeod would acknowledge it by raising her hand to the referee.
Creating drama!
Intense beach volleyball match going on...it's in the pouring rain. Raining even harder than the gold medal match in Beijing, lol.
It's USA vs. USA in the beach volleyball gold medal game! Who to root for?
Am I the only one who thinks that a domestique sounds somewhat kinky - something that should be in a bad porno movie![]()
