Watching boxing and realized some things never change. Reputation wins out over actual shots landed. Feel bad for the young boxer from France -- he really should have won.

Yeah, I watched the boxing yesterday. You'd have thought that by now, they'd have figured out some semi-impartial system for the olympics at least. Because based on last night's competition what's happening on the ring is almost guaranteed to be the opposite of what the score reflects... I'm wondering why they're even bothering to fight.

That soccer game was heartbreaking to watch. I'm a soccer referee and to let a team influence your decisions like that is pretty bad. I'm somewhat biased being Canadian but the call against the goalie is complete bullshit, imo. Especially with no warning.

I do think it's pretty cool though that a women's soccer game is the second most watched Olympic event though

omg, I hope Matthias Steiner (German weightlifter who dropped 432 pounds on his neck) is okay. I can't believe he walked away from that.

Also, this is late, but a hearty congrats to the British athletes and their supporters for an amazing performance in these games, especially in the last several days. and those Brownlee bros were awesome! glad the home crowd has something to cheer about

Sorry for another post but just wanted to say well gutted out for Alex Despatie in diving and thank you to all those who were at the diving and gave a big round of applause after Alex botched his final dive.

mad for Alexandre for all that he has done for this sport. I have followed his career since his first Commonwealth Games in 1998, and am just so impressed by the courage and determination he showed in competing here after that horrific accident in June. Incredible. And yes, the crowd was lovely.

I am also very impressed with Chris Mears, who almost died of a ruptured spleen in 2009. His last dive was beautiful, and I am so happy he could have that moment at home.

Congrats to Ilya Zakharov, Kai Qin, and Chong He on their medals and some gorgeous diving! a very memorable event!

My oldest nephew came over to spend the day w/us and I asked him what his Dad thought of it all. David said it was pretty much what you said up there. I have no idea what he's thinking tonight w/this "investigation" going on now. Like the Team hasn't been kicked in the teeth enough in the last 24hrs. Now, how do you prepare for France when you don't know if you'll have certain players or not?

I do believe Hope Solo's delusional. Why? She's quoted today as saying that Team USA made Christine Sinclair look good last night.

Canada isn't going to get three medals in track, one was a realistic expectation, I just don't think they expected it to be Derek Drouin He has no previous multi-games experience or World Championship experience, to come through with an Olympic medal on your first go around is insane. But good for him! I'm really glad he was able to get on the podium.

And that one was supposed to be Dylan Armstrong, not this kid who looked like he was floating ten feet off the ground when running around the Stadium w/the flag. Just insane at his age and lack of experience to be able to pull this off. Just incredable and Congratulations Derek!!

When I heard the term the first time yesterday in a feature piece on Simon Whitfield, I did a double take as I could have sworn I heard "dominatrix"!!!

Oh Simon...Just gutted for him. I hope all that's wrong w/his collar bone is a bad bruise, because he hit *hard* when he went down. What a beyond horrible way for him to end his Olympic career.

I'm unclear what you mean. Yes they were upset - especially as the relegation in the 1st race was somewhat suspect - but still cheered the winner. And don't forget it is a british games - the majority of the fans are british and want a british win so some initial disappointment is going to happen. It's your comment that sounds a little sour grapish - Anna won so celebrate for goodness sake

Personally I wasn't too disappointed VP lost as she is a very self centered perosn - and not in a good athletic focused manner!! Trust me british cycling will not miss her - we already have several young ladies ready to take up the mantle - including Jess Varnish who VP lost a possible medal for with her illegal change over!!
