NBC Day 9 aka I thought Phelps was done swimming?

So I forgot that the evening coverage starts at 7pm on Sundays but I figured some of us would still want to talk about it for the next four hours?

I'm pretty sure the first hour was basically Phelps and diving. So, to summarize, Michael says:

"The things that happened during this Olympics were... I guess it shows the preparation that I had going in to it. I prepared myself to do exactly what I did here. If I would have trained for two more years, maybe I could have swam faster in this event or I could have swam faster in that event or I could have won this event. But I didn't want to. My decision was to prepare myself how I did and I got the results that I deserved."
Kevin: He compared Scott to a disposable feminine cleansing product one might use on a summer's eve.
Meagan: Yeah, and the bag it came in. -The Big Bang Theory, performed by the Canadian WTT team and interpreted by Cyn.

I figure a lot of people probably enjoyed the Phelps interview. I'm not going to bitch about NBC too much over it since we have an extra hour of coverage tonight, but that's really something that probably should have been broadcast in late night so we could see more events tonight.

Carillo fluff with Pistorius in South Africa!!

I enjoyed the Phelps interview. He's become so much more well-spoken over the years.

I really enjoyed it as well although I probably would have preferred it be broadcast at some other time.

I really like that he explained exactly when he had started fully training again (because that had been a source of some debate) and that he made it clear that he never showed up expecting the same results as Beijing without having done the same work as Beijing.

He also reinforced that, for everyone who thinks he isn't done, he really is.

Dara Torres said on twitter this morning that she would bet we see Michael in Rio and he told her he'd take that bet.

I don't know, even the owner of the bed & breakfast I stayed at when I had an overnight connection in Johannesburg I'd have done bad things too if I had more time

Pistorius is indeed hot. for sure. I've always noticed how hot South African's are and their accents don't hurt.

Loved the Pistorius profile. Two nights in a row where the fluff hasn't bothered me (yet).

Beach volleyball next. Which means a break for me.

Beach volleyball is so close to being awesome but it just isn't. It is all about who receives the ball as they almost always get the point. Unless your the American team who manages to find ways to win points no matter what. I like the indoor volleyball with full teams much more. The points go on much longer and are more exciting.

Chris Marlowe commented the 99 gymnastics Worlds on ESPN with Bart Conner and was great. What I'd give to have him replace Al Fishwig!

    I love beach volleyball.

But I do not see the need for this Bond fluff.

If NBC shaved off the useless fluff from their broadcasts, we could all be in bed 1.5 hours earlier. Worst. coverage. EVER!

How does moving on from the heats work in track?

Usually top 2 automatically plus the fastest "losers" after that fill up the rest of the spots
