There's also an official press release from Skate Canada: Change in Leadership at Skate Canada.

    Indeed it does.

Love this quote from the press release:
The Board plans no immediate search for a CEO said Lavoie. “We have a very experienced, capable senior management team. We know that they will continue their fine work as a leadership group, while the Skate Canada Board focuses on its role of governance of the association.”
In other words, nothing to see here, move along

Are we seriously expected to believe that Skate Canada can function for any length of time without a CEO? Or maybe they are not planning a search because they have a "chosen one" in mind already.

Or maybe the money is tight and they don't want a big salary on the books.

It doesn't sound like they plan to replace the CEO. Strange indeed

    I'll miss him.
He seemed to love the sport and wanted it to receive proper attention/coverage.

Didn't SC get rid of the previous CEO just before worlds in Calgary?

    I was wondering the same.

I've checked both the Skate Canada and SkateBuzz facebook sites and this news isn't mentioned. So weird. Are they waiting to post something until they can also name the new CEO?

Sounds to me like he was fired/let go. The timing is fishy. He was obviously at the Skate Canada AGM and the ISU congress and poised to lead the organization into the 2013 season which is about to start.

I wonder why he was let go? Salary too big? Problems over 2013 worlds (which sounds like there's many)? Not bringing in enough sponsors? (Speaking of which, I keep wondering when Debbi Wilkes will be next.)

But it says retired. Maybe he simply had enough? Or a better offer from somewhere else?

Retired is sometimes an option companies will give an employee being let go in order to save face/other due dilligence issues.

It doesn't mean he didn't decide to retire on his own, only that it's not always that clear-cut an explanation.

    Yes?
I mean it's pretty standard for a sport governing body in Canada to have a CEO AFAIK.
