To think that fun is simple fun, while earnest things are earnest, proves all too plain that neither one thou truthfully discernest.
My, there are some very large men in shotput.![]()
Y'all
Reporting from Kingston, the whole country is of course buzzing with excitement...cannot wait for the sprints this weekend.
So happy the MAIN EVENT has arrived!
I have to admit, I am enjoying shot put with someone to cheer for!
Great run by Jessica - and that woman has abs to die for![]()
Jessica![]()
Majewski (POL) last shot 21.89 leads the competition and wins for a second consecutive time the gold in the shot put
Silver for Storl (GER) and bronze for Hoffa (USA)
Women's 10,000 meters final underway
Skary Babs: "Today in the original dance some top couples did mistakes...(turns to Maurizio) Maurizio?"
for Dylan Armstrong. Bah, I don't expect Zelinka to stay third tomorrow.
Kyle
What a 10,000 metre race!! that final lap was amazing. These long distance runners surprise and amaze me every time. I think these distances amaze me more than all the other distances other than the 100m.
Was it amazing? It seemed INCREDIBLE on TV!
Whee, get Majewski's headband of Power!! You can do it!
Dibaba was fcking phenomenal. Big fan of Daphne Schippers in the heptathlon, hope to see her come through for Rio with KJT.
Jeter looked super, As did the 8 other ladies who ran sub 11
Wheeeeeeeeee, bring on tomorrow.
I want a full PBP Freds.![]()

That was particularly special. Dibaba hasn't run a big race since 2008, who knew she still had that sprint in her.
Sally Kipyego who was 2nd went to a US college and won multiple NCAA titles, apparently she has an amazing personality and a wonderful person so I'm happy to see her on the podium.
So disappointed with her high jump.
She HAS to PR in the long jump, but I wouldn't write her off just yet.
Brilliant to see her back up her national hurdles win. Am I right in saying she had a baby recently enough?
I'm sad for Armstrong too, really wanted him to medal on that last throw. Wasn't meant to be I guess. The olympics came just a year too late for him.![]()
In 2009 I believe. I mainly follow track and field at the Olympics, so all I really know about Jessica Z she's obviously a strong hurdler given that she is also competing in that event separately - does she have a reasonable shot at staying in the top 3 or is it just more of CTV being a homer?
It was incredible in real life too. The hairs on the back of my neck were standing up during the last heat of the heptathlon 200m (I think other things were standing up for other male spectators). Was such a void to see three Japanese and an Irish lead the 10000m for the few laps although we knew that would end. Dibaba's finishing kick was a glory to behold!

Storl almost ran over two of the 10k runners on his way to collect the German flag for his silver celebration.
I'm sure there's more, but I'm knackered so that'll have to do.![]()

I was very impressed with the crowd in the stadium. Well done GB - the atmosphere was fantastic.
What the hell is a Ninja Twizzle? Does it have anything to do with hard shelled aquatic life forms that live in the sewer?
Okay Jessica Ennis and Jessica Zelinka in the Long jump and Jav....I'll be behind the couch for the next couple of hours.
C'mon Jess! I don't think I'll be able to watch either.
