Because Amanar submitted it and performed it first in World and/or Olympic competition. That's all, and it was a fugly 2.5 Twisting Yurchenko that Amanar performed, at that.

No - I get that. But in men's gymnastics, Kyle Shewfelt submitted it and got it named after him, but you don't hear any men talk about doing a Shewfelt vault. Granted, not many of them do that vault. But it's still weird.

I'm getting a little annoyed with all this "best friend" talk about Raisman and Wieber. I'm sure they're friendly, but I'm guessing BFF is a bit of an exaggeration.

If you follow Aly, Jordyn, and McKayla on instagram, it is pretty clear that those three are especially close.

Well, Vika can make that up on Bars but she can't afford more mistakes.

I shouldn't feed the beast, but what the hell. Raisman's vault had more height and especially distance than Gabby's, so that would have partially offset the messier form.

I think it's way too early to count out Komova. She can pick up points on bars and you never know what will happen with the other girls.

That is the ridiculousness of it.

I honestly think everybody says Amanar because it is a mouthful to say, "Two-and-a half twisting Yurchenko". In English, even saying a one-and-a half twisting Yurchenko is easier although the word and letter count is the same.
