GB third in men's eights. Germany first and Canuckistan second.

Fun fact. Rowing with one oar is called sweep rowing.

(And not to be picky, I wouldn't normally say anything but for those learning about the sport, sculling has a C in it, not a k)

And they were the team to beat - GB pushed them hard and forced them to dig deep to take the gold so congrats to them for that!!! I just wish the GB men could have hung on for a silver but it's still a medal - just not the one they wanted!!

German men were totally shocked that the Brits dared attack them.

Good - what they did was so against the ethos of the Olympics and they deserve what they got.

The knock-out format will be back in the next Olympics - what a disastorous decision to make it an initial group format for this games!!!

In 2008 the Achter came in dead last in the final - it was basically a National catastrophe.

I would have been really happy for the Brits, too. I hope they can be consoled - Bronze is not too shabby! And congrats to the Canadians.

Different rules for different sports? If rowers can decide its tactically smart to give up a race shouldn't others be allowed to do the same?

It's a different thing to conserve a little energy in the qualifications and to basically stand there and pretend you can't even play badminton.

I hope this is really the end of the stories. The Koreans are already throwing a fit because they feel unfairly treated in several decisions so far (fencing, judo, swimming).
