IMO yes (love me some Jake and have for a few years now) but I think the entire US team is full of hotness along with alternate Chris Brooks. It helps that they're all super awesome guys too.

I think we need to form a group and fly over to London to console the US guys. I'm all ready booking my plane ticket....

Finally, the backstroke! There's a Cincy guy in this final, Nick Thoman, and I've been waiting for his race all day. Go Nick!!

    Horton, or even Leyva.

Vault has been a continuous problem for Orozco.

Horton! The only reason he didn't vault in prelims was to ensure Orozco and Layeva could qualify for the all around final.

Coverage for the men has historically been really awful, even when we've done well.

If nothing else, they should show the best two on each apparatus, so the average viewer can contrast and get an idea of what's considered the ideal. To cut them not much, but a little, slack, gymnastics is a sport that is not TV friendly.

I hate to admit it, but I question Orozco's mental preparedness for the AA.

I hope so very dearly that I'm wrong! When he's on, he's got such great charm and pizzazz.

One of the things I love about the Olympics is the premise that politics are (or at least should be) put aside in favor of celebrating athletics and the best of sport.

That being said, did NBC really feel the need to air an Obama campaign ad in the middle of tonight's broadcast? .

(FTR, I'd be (and will be if it happens) equally irritated if a Romney ad shows up as well).

    Meh.

I'm also very surprised Horton wasn't chosen for vault. Guess the selection committee has still not forgiven him for falling in vault at the World Championships last season and costing the US men the silver medal there. Still, isn't Horton's vault a higher degree of difficulty than Orozco's?

Maybe we should put "spoiler-free" in the title for the folks who don't read all the posts, esp. the first one that says this thread is supposed to be spoiler-free.

We got a Romney ad today, and an Obama ad yesterday.

I spotted Tara Modlin standing next to Yin in the stands earlier.

Whatevs. I love John's cheerleader voice. I want john around to tell me that we are a team and cheer me on in normal, real life situations.

Maybe the people in charge for the men's gymnastics team and the 4x100 relay got high together when making line up choices.

Okay, as long as everyone agrees that they aren't too young for us to offer comfort...

Leyva and Orozco both had the same average score in team finals which was higher than Horton's so it isn't just the AA that had those two vaulting but certainly Leyva or Horton could have gone. Orozco was definitely struggling in practice according to all reports.
