Opps - the first Irish rider falls and is out of the cross country and that sucks for the rest as they rely on the first rider to get back and tell the rest of the team how the course is riding

I hope both horse and rider are okay.

The Australian team seems to be riding well over the course!

London's travel network clears first Olympic hurdle

London's transport network has passed its first big test of the Games: the combination of commuters and Games spectators during Monday morning's rush hour.

London workers seem to have heeded warnings that extra restrictions and Games Lanes combined with spectator congestion might result in nightmare commutes - and changed their patterns.

Well they've taken the rider off to hospital to get checked, but they didn't seem too concerned so I'm guessing it wasn't so bad.

Canadian rider now down. Horse is OK though.

I don't know anything about equestrian events. Are this many falls normal- or is it a really unusual course causing it?

I'm no expert, but I noticed there were a couple of jumps that almost every horse was having trouble with...

Three day eventing is one of the most dangerous sport, so lots of falls is not unusual. Conditions are pretty much ideal (not hot).

Especially the cross country part which is all up and down and sharp turns etc. And yes the conditions are gorgeous as it's sunny but not hot and the ground is not too firm but also not muddy beyond belief - I've seen some Badminton horse trials where it is a mud bath!!
