For real. "Superman" 3-time & reigning World Champ Uchimara only qualifies in 9th place for the AA and only qualifies for floor in event finals and 2-time & reigning World silver medalist Boy doesn't qualify at all. Reigning World Champ Weiber doesn't qualify for the AA either and only qualifies for floor in event finals. I also can't say I was expecting the US men's team to finish nearly a full 3 points ahead of the rest of the teams in the world in the QR.

Do the team coaches officially have that option now? Or do they still have to make one their qualifying athletes pretend to be injured?

So did Tweddle post the highest score of the day with her UB routine?

It's a good thing - I was worried everything was going to be too predictable (a bit ala Beijing IMO)

Just goes to show it's about how things pan out on the day(s)

Yeah, but once they're in the competition, it becomes glaringly obvious to anyone watching and the ones who get cut actually took part in that particular competition.

Bulimar will be pulled. I would bet my hair on it.

And the coaches do have the option and Romania is known for it. How many times did they pull Marinescu? At one point they pulled another Romanian from beam finals so that Marinescu could then perform in beam finals later on (and fecked up).
They don't have to play the injury card anymore either. It is allowed practice.

If Tweedle tied with the Russian (both had 14.443) why can't she go too?

Because Musty had a higher D score. Aliya got 5.9 for difficulty, and Tweddle got a 5.8

I think it's E score, then D score? If both are equal then there's a tie. See parallel bars qualifiers.

The thing between Musty and Tweddle is that Musty had a 0.1 penalty so that's why they were tied. They had the same E score but Musty had a 0.1 higher D score.

I want to read the rules. Any links anywhere?

Really annoying that they didn't at least let her do floor. Esp. since Iordache is out of floor finals. I hate that Belu and Bitang always seem to promote their favorites- they were probably afraid she would qualify to the AA or floor finals ahead of the chosen ones (and she would have!).

Not really, because they're already here and already competed. It's just throwing out those scores as not counting because of relative ranking in regards to country. It's like Russia sweeping JW ladies, but, oops, no, the bronze gets to go to someone else because we're retconning that the third place Russian lady was there.

particularly with this 4/3 qualification. If a team can swing it so that more than 2 athletes even have a chance at AA, then power to them.
