You guys are making me feel really badly about how hard I used to root against Shannon Miller when she competed, god even remembers why... I was so young and so full of various biases. Unlike now, angel that I am in my middle age.

She should be doing the NBC primetime commentary. At least she wouldn't feel the need to "educate" the viewing audience on what a hit routine means or what it means to stick.

Hopefully she wouldn't also be using traffic signals to explain scoring.

I wish I could rep Kyle Shewfelt for the way that he handles our favourite talking mustache, Rod Black. Rod is actually almost tolerable (aside from showing delight when others' mistakes help Canadians to qualify, which is totally ) and I have to attribute a lot of that to Kyle.

I don't agree with that - the backhandspring into the missed triple twist was really messy, which was why she missed it in the first place, and should have been deducted.

I am watching NBCOlympics LiveExtra main feed on my laptop. Shannon is commentating and I get zero commercials. The event feeds don't have commentary.

And what is also nice about Shannon, as someone said upthread, is that she if flag blind. No overt nationalism from her, no sirree.

Oh. I thought someone had mentioned that she was doing commentary outside the U.S. and thought you might have found access to it.

I have tons of respect for Shannon -- and am happy to see her doing so well after undergoing treatment for cancer.

I'd actually quite like Iordache to qualify 7th. It might be better for her to finish on vault, go for the Amanar at the end as opposed to the start of her campaign.

Me too - I really love their style of gymnastics, which is clean and precise but still fluid. I was wondering if they could play spoiler in the medal hunt, but that is looking a little less likely given the way they are on floor.

It is kind of disappointing that Ponor had that huge mistake yet still made FX final, knocking Beth down to first alternate.

Musty and Tweddle have the same FX score, but Musty makes finals due to the tiebreak of having a higher D score.
