For real. Horton's 2008 routine was very exciting, but he did take a step on the landing that cost him.

Zou Kai was sloppy as heck, but his D score was 7.2 to Horton's 6.9 in 2008. Zou Kai got an E score of 9.0, Horton 9.275. Very close, but Zou Kai went in with a big advantage and it paid off.

ETA: If the US ladies win team gold (and that's a big if) by virtue of those ginormous Amanar D scores, does that mean they stole gold from the second place team? I think not.

    Shut up, Daggett.

Beisel had some nifty nail polish going on. These things are important to me.

I don't understand nbc's made up gymnastics scoring system. It is based only on deductions, so an easy routine with few deductions is better than a hard one with more. Shouldn't they look at the SCORE?

It's AMAZING how much more I like Danell without Yin on the floor. I'm rather sad he'll be bake for AA and EF. I've finally started rooting for Danell and even noticed that he's hot!

This. Tim should take a bit of time to explain the scoring system for those who tune in once every 4 years, and then remember to talk about the D score when one routine scores higher than another. But Tim is a douchebag, so I won't count on it.

I guess they're just trying to show whether you did well for you as opposed to well overall?

I swear, I understood the green/yellow/red when they did it for women's trials, but it doesn't seem to have any meaning here.

It makes more sense to just show the D and E scores.

Jake was totally not chosen for his strength on still rings. That was clearly an accident.

Ah yes, the self esteem Olympics where your performance in relation to the field has no bearing...as long as you do good for you.

The whole D score thing is perfectly easy to understand(maybe because I am used to the craziness of skating), and I'm an every 4 year fan. NBC is making it unnecessaryily confusing.

It would've been nice if Orozco had made an EF. Then all the US men would've made one.

The first one (whatever time). The second one is a repeat of prime time.

Nice of NBC to reference rings and not show any. And I love rings too.

Interesting question. If you were a gymnast, would you rather make AA final or an event final?

And they only showed one vault.

Pollyanna- I'd rather make AA, that is a much more prestigious medal, IMO

So - a cortisone shot in the shoulder isn't illegal according to the drug rules?
