Ryan Lochte
I'm surprised Phelps didn't medal; granted he wasn't good this morning. I don't know much about swimming, so I'm just assuming he was expected to medal. In the US Media, it was certainly portrayed that it was Lochte vs Phelps battle.

This was probably the event that Phelps was least likely to medal in. Some people thought that he wasn't even going to try for this event this time around.

I'm shocked Phelps at least didn't grab a medal. While I'd heard he hadn't swam well this morning, he's done that before, so...Wow!!

He was definitely expected to medal. He had the second highest time in the world this year with more than 2 seconds over the next highest swimmer actual competing. This was definitely a shock even though Phelps was originally not expected to swim this race this year. Originally Posted by oleada
