In awe for Brazil's medal haul today

To think that some 20 years ago, it would take us about the entire olympics to earn 3 medals.

And, apparently, we were leading the medal board a little while ago, even if it was for a split second

I've run out of words for how much I love Michael Johnson. Among many other things, he has such an excellent line in snark.

Instead of a swimming or cycling expert, Olympics Tonight has Kelly Holmes, Michael Johnson and John McEnroe as a panel.

And Colin Jackson at beach volleyball is so appropriate.

It's just a question of who is more slappable - Colin Jackson, that Cook bint from Australia who wanted to carry the flag or the ridiculously named Misty May.

Kieran Behan is really getting pimped by the TV stations worldwide.

Bwah! The London designers didn't want to make the mistake they did in Vancouver and hide the flame behind ugly fencing, so they just hid it completely because people can see it on TV.

If I were able to be in London right now, I'd be extremely disappointed at not being able to even glimpse the flame. The London cauldron is probably the most beautiful concept ever, but I'd rather have a simple pan flaming somewhere where everyone could see it.

Good job then that I've got tickets to go inside the stadium.

Terry Gammon is the color commentator for women's rowing. I wonder if he'll mention "controlling one's own destiny."

I wathed Gymnastics all day and there was literally a full block of 300+ seats empty the entire time. I applied for tickets multiple times to no avail.... incredibly disappointing. Very difficult not be cynical towards the corporate fat cats being gifted tickets and not even bothering to turn up.

^ I've noticed many empty seats in the events that I've watched today, too.

Looks like they're going to look into those empty seats and see what sponsors didn't have people show etc... ridiculous to reserve prime seats for people who don't even bother to show up. At least these days computer records can make it easier to track...not that they will necessarily be able to do anyting about it..but it really looks bad and changes the atmosphere.

That's so frustrating! Are the sponsors receiving the tickets not requested to confirm whether they will use each ticket or not?
