I honestly don't know whether to laugh or cry about the cycling race. Team GB just had a hard time controlling a race this long and hard with only a "4 man" team. They gave it a massive effort, and even got some help from other Sky team members, but this is the sort of race where a 9 man team would have made a lot of difference.

Poor Cav, very disappointed for him and I know he'll feel like he let people down, but it was just an unpredictable race.

I was at work and watching on the stream with no commentary. I could tell Cance was badly banged up the way he was riding after the crash. Is it a collarbone or can he still ride the TT?

Breaking News: Korean who was originally DQed for a false-start has won his appeal and been re-instated into the final of the 400 free in swimming knocking Canada's Ryan Cochrane out.

NOT impressed with the news... I watched the video and the bugger clearly moved before the gun went off... Blatant disregard for the rules by FINA . It doesn't matter to me that a Canadian was knocked out, had it been an American, a Brit, whoever, that person should be in the finals because the Korean false started...

Yeah, but would you really honestly have been as upset?

Vino is such an unrepentant doper that it's easy to be annoyed at his win, but he's also such a fun racer with such an aggressive style that there's almost something admirable. He always animates a race - and who else would go out in a kit with a picture of themselves on it (he even had matching ones for his kids)

Let's be honest, probably not but still, why have rules if they're not going to be respected regardless?

I hope Cancellara isn't out of the TT! That would be tragic. Even if he can do it, with the crash, I think Wiggo may be the favorite.

Wiggins just tweeted "Well we did everything we could as a team, gutted for Cav and sad to see Fabian out"

    I really hope that's inaccurate.

NBC all (of course) about Phelps barely making it out of his prelim into 400 IM final (8th place). But I was wondering if Cseh not even getting in (finished 9th) is also a biggie, or is he kind of past his time. [Sorry, if there's a separate swimming thread I didn't see it.]

Yes, I was hoping Cav would get a medal. I was never really on the Cavendish train until this year. Not sure what won me over- maybe because switching teams meant the sprints weren't such a slam dunk this year.
