Roger Guaranteed a silver! He's definitely having his Indian summer.

I was sad for DelPo though. I'm sad for anyone who loses a marathon match like that. I hope he can bring that level of play to a grand slam again.

oh thank goodness!! Way to go Fed!

Delpo really stayed in the match, did not go away, showing some mental toughness that sometimes plagues him.

    Well done to both.

Roger! I think if he wins gold, it will be THE Olympic moment for me.

    ETA: Also, happy for Maria

It seems so brutal to have to do a bronze medal match -- if you lose the semi to get into the gold medal match, then lose the bronze medal match, that must be so devastating!

He really gave it to Rog today, he should be proud of his effort. I wanna give him a giant bear hug and *boop* his cute little bunny nose.

The best thing about the guys in these semifinal match-ups is that the bronze medal match has the potential to be AWESOME, too!

Really curious about the results of Williams vs. Azarenka but I have errands to run : Whoever wins, I already have butterflies in my stomach for Maria tomorrow.

Yeah when tennis was first brought back to the Olympics in 1988 they had joint bronze medallists, so if you lost in the semis you tied for bronze. I guess the IOC made them change that - they don't like ties.

Sorry to burst your bubble, michiru, but Sharapova isn't going to win. She hasn't beaten Serena in years.

And Serena is on fire!!! She is just taking Azerenko apart!!

ETA: And that is it - 6-1, 6-2 - Azerenko manages to get it to the hour but she was just blasted off the course. I can't see Sharapova having anything in her bag to beat Serena.

It will be SO difficult for Delpo to bounce back after losing such an epic match.

But I hope he's able to!

My god that Del Potro vs Federer game!! I am glad Roger won, I want the gold for him

And Serena DESTROYED Azarenka 6-1, 6-2

It will be a good clash against Sharapova, at least on paper it seems but Serena is just unbeliavable at this Olympics, a rematch of that Wimbledon final between them.

It is weird when the World Number 1 loses this way at the Olympics Semifinals, or at any tournament
