Former figure skater, Conny Wels-Stuiver has died in the disaster in Ukraine at the age of 39.
Also, her husband, Leon, and son, Sem, were on the plane that supposedly was shot down with an antiaircraft missile over an area where government forces of Ukraine and pro-Russian separatists are fighting each other. None of the total of 298 passengers and crew survived the disaster.
Conny Wels-Stuiver was one of the top Dutch figure skaters in the early 1990's. In 1992, she was second at the National Championships.
After her skating career finished, Conny was as trainer and choreographer involved in the Bossche Skating Association.
The municipality Rosmalen, where Conny lived with her family, is organizing a memorial service at St John's Cathedral in Den Bosch Saturday at 20:00.
