Well, I guess I am not worse than Hitler (LOL), because I agree with you. I would so hate to see her go now. I sure hope she stays for a final Olympic appearance in which she just lets the beauty of her skating speak for itself. I am shocked at what a big fan of hers I became in the last three years.

i hope that she sticks it out another season-till sochi-
I can see the change in her this season-she just seems to float in confidence and i loved seeing it!!! but it is a lot of work and I understand why she might feel that she is ready to finish competing- such a hard decision!!

I think if her heart isn't in it, and she wants to persue other things and have a "normal" life she should.

I have grown to really appreciate her skating post-Vancouver.

TBH, if she keeps up her consistency, I think she still has a decent chance to medal or even win without the lutz all the way up to Sochi. The Russian girls (minus Lipnitskaya) and even Asada have shown signs of inconsistency. The American girls are not in her league. Kim, Ando and Rochette are questionable with their long absences.

Kostner has accumulated / earned a lot of goodwill with the judges in these few seasons and I would never count her out for a medal in any competition. Having said that, I do agree it is the perfect time to say goodbye to amateur skating, but I will surely miss what she has to bring to the ice. She has grown into such a unique, beautiful skater that I just love to watch her skate whether or not she is skating for a medal.

This stream of events/atmosphere reminds me of Jeff Buttle's retirement announcement. In a way, Carolina's a lot like Jeff. Splendid skating skills yet inconsistencies hindered them from widening their career goals.

    Is that really needed?
    This too will pass away.
