Marion is not near the mental midget Petrova is and always was. In fact it is pretty much her mental toughness that has gotten her as far in her career as it has. It wouldnt surprise me much if Maria somehow comes back to win but I dont think it will be due to the rain delay if she does. It is still early days in the match. I like Azarenka's chances in the semis vs either one anyway, and of course Serena in the final vs anyone right now.

So, so happy Vika won. She played some tight points in the 2nd set and in the 3rd.

Her mental toughness is fantastic and she really wants to win it.

I wonder where Stosur goes from here. It must be encouraging to come so close to beat one of her nemisis opponents, she hadnt even taken a set from Azarenka before today, but must be tough to fight so hard and come short. This year she has played two of the best matches vs her two worst opponents, Sharapova during the clay season and Azarenka here, and come just short in both. She did get her first win over Venus and her first win over Sharapova in the last year. Still hasnt beaten Kvitova, but they have only played 4 times. Never beat Clijsters but she is gone now. She is making some inroads in being competitive with all the women on top, of the top 8 she is the one with the highest # of nightmare matchups, ironically Serena is one of her better ones.

Lucky for Sharapova who can go and rethink her strategy overnight. Bartoli was definitely getting the better of her out there.

Bartoli is one of the few female tennis players I like to watch. She doesn't just slam the ball as hard as she can, she places it and mixes things up. It's fun to watch her frustrate the other hard hitters!! It often doesn't work, but it makes things interesting.
