Polina Edmunds was spectacular again in her short. Wow.

I kinda hate that girls have to do so much so early in the off season just to have a shot at JGP. I wish they'd just set one competition in late-July for remaining JGP determination so girls don't have to be in peak form so early.

Polina is improving her chances every time she goes out there. Her consistency this week has been extraordinary considering she struggled with that in the past!

    3Lz+3T, 3F, 2A - 55.84!

I've posted unofficial scores in my blog - haven't had time to write up anything else, but thought Scimeca/Knierim's debut was very promising!

    Senior Pairs SP (2 teams):
    A Scimeca/C Knierim (new) 50.89 [29.87 TES/21.02 PCS] Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata
    H Denney/B Frazier 46.09 [23.81 TES/22.28 PCS] Spanish guitar with castanets

    Junior Pairs SP (2 teams):
    M Aaron/M Settlage 45.13 [24.53/20.60] Saint-Saens’ The Swan
    B Simpson/M Blackmer 40.34 [19.46/20.88] Zorro soundtrack

    M Aaron = Madeline, Max's younger sister.

Avery Kurtz goes into 2nd, 45.70. Barbie Long's Pink Panther is next!

ETA: 3Lz(big!)+3T, 3F, OSE to 2A for Long!

    Thanks, Sylvia.

    Barbie was spectacular too!
    33.94, 22.84, 56.78 wow
    1st!

ETA: Following skating events in June is not good for my wallet. First I need to spend money to follow Broadmoor OPen, and then in between skates I find myself looking at Ebay.

Re-posting last night's Junior Ladies "SP Only" event scores:
Barbie Long (UGL) 57.78 [34.82 TES/22.96 PCS] Pink Panther
Polina Edmunds (CP) 54.94 [32.38 TES/22.56 PCS] Russian? Folk Song

I also enjoyed Anjing Fu's "Yellow River Concerto" SP (in light blue dress) earlier - she landed 2A, high 3F (fall), 3S+2T, some fast spins! She's currently in 4th, 42.70.

ETA: Mariah Bell is last to skate & on the ice.

please send her to polina edmunds' or barbie long's coach. PLEASE. or have katarina witt give her some lessons on standing tall under pressure.

still love her skating. she's the first skater since MK who gave me the same impression of freedom in her skating.

good to see the improvement in barbie long's stretch and spin positions. dare i hope the stretch and spin position fairy will also visit angela wang some point this season. her layback spin is already beautiful, but the donut spin and blade grabs...

can the more objective observers comment on mariah's programs this season? i know edmunds and BLong are bedazzling and all... but are these good vehicles for mariah? hard to tell with hardly any completed jumps?

Did anyone recognize Mariah's SP music? (It sounded familiar to me - Irish-y? Hymn-like?) Hopefully she'll forget about this tough short and come back strongly in her FS tomorrow.

Jr Ladies SP top 7: Barbie Long (UGL) 56.78, Polina Edmunds (CP) 55.84, Avery Kurtz 45.70, Anjing Fu 42.70, Katia Shpilband (NA) 37.96, Mariah Bell 33.72, Tina Nguyen 33.22

ETA: skfan, Mariah has good coaches where she is. Just give her some time to continue developing.

That was a new program for Mariah (I hope)?

Love her skating too, sigh. Best of luck in the free!

yes, Sylvia, you nailed it. i saw the leaps barbie long and polina edmunds made, and felt terrible for mariah being left in the JGP dust.

Lara, yes, this is a new short. she skated a new long to west side story as well.

at least mariah's new LP dress is beautiful

Parkinson (ITA) kept his "Nothing Else Matters" program from last season and landed 3A, 3Lz+3T, 3F (fell out), scored 67.88 later revised to 68.28. Jono Partridge (GBR) was 2nd with 40.96 ("American Beauty" soundtrack?).

Zamboni break before Senior Ladies SP.

ETA: Melissa Bulanhagui (PHI) has been added to the SP start order - she's skating first.

    Great start!

Bulanhagui "redeemed" herself today - landed 3F+2T, 3Lz, 2A - 50.14 to lead off Broadmoor Sr Ladies SP. I think this was her fun Egyptian Disco program from last year, and she had a blast performing it today!
